The main message conveyed through this sculpture is that for the future to prosper, the past must be revered. What better example to show this than a sundial, which is as ancient as time. The stairs are used to ascend to the top, where the altar hosts fire which symbolises purification. The steel ribbon binds these elements together as a symbol of something new, and everlasting, which resonates the past and transcends the future. Also the arch represents as a way to new beginnings, a fresh, airy start and the pool reflects the thoughts and ideas which will influence the future. Through this all the main 4 elements of life are showed, which altogether completes the circle of life.
