a state of euphoria euphoria is a state of intense happiness and self-confidence. confiding in yourself and feeling content with who you are is the most empowering emotion one can achieve. spirituality in fashion is now referred to as ‘boho’, which has become ever - increasingly popular due to the festival style and the increase of interest in fashion. currently, one in four young adults has been or intends to go travelling, as they feel this is a way to find themselves; both culturally and emotionally.

live illustration is about expressing one’s self through artwork, and allowing those around you to be a part of it. watching someones emotion become a still image to a vast audience. this has become ever increasingly popular since the famous banksy, and can now be seen in many different environments.

playful pop-art is a trend occurring worldwide, and is known for its iconic style and bold colouring. the trend has grown bigger and bolder since milan fashion week ‘15 showcased the design. andy warhol is also a pop-art enthusiast, with his renowned artwork focusing around the comic-like style.

animal overload animal prints, patterns and shapes have become the hot topic in the fashion industry. taking the colours and textures to a new level to form captivating new designs. our planet is becoming more and more animal friendly, which is being reflected in what we wear. from the catwalk to the high street, animals are becoming more dominant and frequent than ever before.

graffiti is deemed as loud, expressive artwork on still surfaces. this trend has hit the catwalk in the recent milan fashion week, creating the style of a moving canvas. graffiti is becoming a large part of our society, as we deem it less common and more high end fashion, with everybody craving the colours and styles.

rebellious revolution graffiti has had a huge influence on expressive language, and it is moving from the walls and onto materials, with more and more artists using swear words in their artwork. as fashion has progressed, it has become increasingly more rebellious; within both imagery and words. swearing is no longer considered rude, but fashionable: the worse the phrase, the more powerful the statement. high street stores such as topshop and urban outfitters have also adopted this style.

commercial realism

logos are no longer just for branding, but a way for people to show off as style. minimal sportswear with a large brand logo is the new trend which everyone will be wanting a piece of. logos are dominating the fashion industry with this lazy trend, as there is no real fashion involved; however our society cannot seem to get enough. the bigger the logo, the ‘cooler’ you appear.

futuristic feminism the world, slowly but surely, is becoming more accepting of peoples preferences. with same sex marriage being approved, everyone now has a choice in the way they want to express themselves. gender roles in society are changing, and just as women are being granted the recognition they deserve, men are able to step out of the macho roles to which they have traditionally been bound to. with healthy lifestyles being pushed, sportswear will be a key wardrobe piece. the recent events of booking a ticket to mars, which will happen in unisex spacesuits, having a huge impact on catwalk trends. combining athletic drive and free expression, the future is born.

narcissistic neons narcissistic neon is a recycled trend derived from the 80s. the bold colours and vibrant looks are what makes this trend so iconic, creating this feel-good fashion and giving an aura of positive vibes.this trend is going from club to catwalk and back around, with everyone wanting a piece of these bright beauties.

shape shifter

Figure 55

shape shifter is about expressing the product through unique and eye catching imagery. the right shapes will help connate the style of the product and enhance the look of the garment. using shapes is a simple yet effective way of showing off the display and drawing the consumer in. frank gehry is a well established architect who created the famous walt disney concert hall, madefrom abstract shapes to achieve its iconic look.

strobe - saber as technology grows, so does the ‘futuristic’ look within the fashion industry. this is now also starting to become apparent within the visual merchandising, promoting this star wars styled display. mixing white laser lights with the garments creates an innovative, cutting edge feel.

through the cycle old is the new ‘new’. we have become a nation where recycling is now a part of our lives; not just for environmental reasons, but but also in order to achieve that everwanted antique / rustic look. with the high amounts of waste britain goes through, reuising what we can is essential, as well as fashionable. jeong-hwa, a well known architect, is a prime example of reusing our resources; having designed and built the 1000 door masterpiece.
