oseland Psychotherapy Associates (RPA) offers a wide range of specialties under one roof. In existence for 15 years, RPA moved to its new, larger location on Eagle Rock Avenue in Roseland about a year-and-a-half ago to accommodate its ever-growing staff and client base. Overseen by three partners—Beth Levy-Merlin, MSW, LCSW; Julie Potischman, LPC; and Michael Overland, Ph.D.—the office includes 16 associates and a psychiatrist. “When we meet with a new client, we conduct a thorough assessment to determine what they are seeking to get out of therapy,” Levy-Merlin said. “Once we have this crucial information, we are able to match them up with a therapist that best suits their needs.”
“Web therapy/online counseling “is particularly helpful to those unable to attend traditional in-office therapy…” —Beth Levy-Merlin, partner Treatment specialization includes, but is not limited to, individual and couples counseling; anxiety, depression and grief counseling; sex therapy; family counseling; work and career issues; post-partum depression counseling; and gay/lesbian/transgender issues. Group therapy sessions for many topics are available, including stress and anger management. For the convenience of their clients, RPA offers web therapy/online counseling. Consisting of a confidential and secure platform, web/telephone-based counseling is designed for people who cannot, for a variety of reasons, take advantage of traditional psychotherapy. Most experts concur that video-based therapy or telephone sessions provide the same positive results as conventional counseling and can be used in combination with face-toface consultations or as the sole method of counseling.
Web therapy/online counseling “is particularly helpful to those unable to attend traditional in-office therapy due to work schedules, disabilities, anxiety issues that prevent them from leaving their home, clients with young children at home, caregivers, students away at college or people who travel for business,” Levy-Merlin said. Due to their stellar reputation in the community, many local schools, businesses, and physicians confidently refer their clients for services at RPA. The partners are also proud to share that many clients come to RPA by word-ofmouth. RPA looks forward to another 15 years of working with the community.
