President’s Corner
Christina Sallee, National President
Having just finished our first in-person National Board meeting since February 2020, I will say it was needed. While we can do a lot remotely and via Zoom there is nothing that renew, refresh and reenergize you as seeing my fellow Board members. I am very pleased that overall, we gained a few members during the pandemic, so thank you to all of you for your continued membership and care of your fellow Sisters. We were also able to take a closer look at the future of the Sisterhood and have started our strategic planning to ensure continuity of the Danish Sisterhood. This will give us a joint direction and goals moving forward which is important. We will present the plan during 2022, so more to come on this subject. We briefly discussed District Conventions for 2022, and we want to know what your plans are so District Presidents, please send information as to your current District Convention plans. Even if you do not have any plans yet, we want to know. As you will see in the newsletter, we have kicked off our 2022 Denmark trip reservation. We are lucky to have Connie Schell being our travel coordinator and Benedikte Ehlers our Danish guide on the trip. Many of you have probably followed along with Benedikte’s travels which NFDA featured in the spring and summer. Everyone is welcome on our trips, but as this is a makeup trip for the cancelled 2020 trip, we did give preference to those people who had signed up then. We do predict that the registration will fill up rather quickly so do not hesitate to register if you are considering going. Starting November 1st all current Sisterhood members and their guest can register, starting January 1st registration is open to all. I know that many are planning on going, and I hope to meet new and old friends on the trip. I hope everyone has a delicious goose, or duck, prepared for Mortensaften, November 11th. While this tradition is disappearing in Denmark it is always a great tradition to have a meal and get-together with friends and family.
