I am so excited to share our new Spring/Summer collection with you! Vi Bella is more than just a jewelry company – it’s a transformative life cycle. Our company grew out of a trip I took to Haiti in June 2010, after a severe earthquake devastated Portau-Prince. The desperate living conditions that thousands of Haitians were in and continue to face overwhelmed my heart. This extreme poverty has been present for decades. Jobs are scarce. Many Haitians could barely afford to feed their families, let alone pay for school, clothing, or housing. I prayed God would provide a better life for my new Haitian friends. In April 2011, our prayers were answered with Vi Bella, which means, “Beautiful Life.” Our ever-growing team is helping to create beautiful lives all over the globe by providing life-changing jobs for people in need. We have invested in our artisan’s lives by providing them sufficient training and job skills to maintain their employment and by supporting them spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Many of our items are made from discarded materials like old newspaper, plastic bottles or metal bottle caps which are turned into beads of varying shapes, colors and sizes. By taking this trash and up-cycling it into unique, handmade jewelry, we can create beautiful lives for our artisans and beautiful environments for them to live in. Making jewelry is a job Vi Bella artisans can be proud of. Through their hard work, they have put roofs over their heads, food on their tables, and are able to send their children to school. They gain back dignity and are released from poverty through their employment. CREATING A BEAUTIFUL
Environment
Vi Bella is helping sustain a clean environment. Many of our beads are handmade from recycled materials such as paper, plastic and metal bottle caps. Look for this symbol throughout the catalog to see which jewelry pieces include recycled elements. PLASTIC BOTTLE BEADS The plastic bottle beads are handmade by our Haitian artisans. First, they take recycled soda bottles, clean them and cut them into appropriate size strips. They add a splash of color with paint or markers and use heat to finish the rolled beads. It takes a lot of skill and patience to transform these discarded bottles into something beautiful and new. PAPER BEADS Our artisans in Mexico & Haiti specialize in handmade paper beads. They take old newspaper or magazines, cut, roll, and glue them to make beads in various shapes and sizes that you will find on our jewelry. Then, they paint and finish them to match the original design. It takes a keen eye and a steady hand to transform discarded paper into beautiful handmade beads.

FUNDRAISING SUCCESS STORY
Sandy Thomas and Becky Lee, two Ambassadors for Vi Bella, hosted a fantastically successful Fundraiser for a nursing school in Haiti. Sandy and Becky set up a booth at an event for instructors from nursing schools across the United States. Attendees came from all over the country, California, Nebraska, Texas, Montana, Virginia, New York and more! Sandy said the story of Vi Bella resonated with these nursing instructors. “We told the story over and over to people as they stopped by. People would take a catalog to browse, and then come back to order. We eventually ran out of catalogs!” “We sold the jewelry as Cash & Carry, and then saw the women wearing their jewelry the next day!” Sandy shared. All in all, Sandy and Becky raised approximately $1600. What a successful event! Why should you fundraise with Vi Bella? Sandy says, “Fundraising is there for a purpose, to serve a need. Our jewelry is also there for a purpose. It’s filling a need for the women we employ and their children. It’s filling a need for churches, families, communities. EMPLOYMENT You are helping us create sustainable jobs for over 30 full-time Vi Bella Artisans and many others through our partner organizations.
ENVIRONMENT From Trash to Treasure: plastic bottles, paper, metal bottle caps. We upcycle discarded materials to make unique beads for our jewelry.
SUPPORT Vi Bella artisans receive physical, mental, spirtual and emotional support.
Vi Bella Serves, a 501(c)(3), is the non-profit arm of Vi Bella Jewelry. Most of Vi Bella Serves’ fundraising goes toward funding school sponsorships for the children of women employed by Vi Bella Jewelry, and for children of their friends and family. Once we are able to meet our school sponsorship needs, we would like to help fund literacy and math tutors for Vi Bella Jewelry employees, and give more aid to community programs in the villages where our work centers are located. Other projects Vi Bella has donated to in the past are an after school program in Mexico, and the construction of a new building in an orphanage in Haiti.

“I have grown spiritually, and I want the same thing for the other people in my community.” The very same week her husband was laid off from his job, Susi found out she got the job working with Vi Bella. “I get to support my husband with all the financial responsibilities…I was able to help my kids get uniforms and books for school.” Being a good mom is important to Susi. She can send her two older daughters to school thanks to her steady income. While at work, Susi loves tackling the wire-wrapping designs and making paper beads. She also appreciates the opportunity to participate in a Bible study with her co-workers. “I want more people to come, but more who are not Christians,” says Susi. “Being a mother makes my life beautiful. In addition to God, my daughters are my inspiration. They are my engine that keeps me going. I love my princesses so much. I thank God for their lives daily.”

Marie Yolaine has been an artisan at Vi Bella for a year, and she LOVES her job. “I enjoy sewing and making the bags,” she says.
