WELCOME! Dear Friends, I will never forget the first time I read Noises Off. It was at the start of my career and I remember thinking how comedically brilliant this show was (or rather, is) and how the humor of the piece stands on the edge of a knife. One small misstep and the jokes are lost. I knew this play would be my biggest challenge, but I took the leap and chose it as my directorial debut. It was a great joy, a triumph, and a learning experience. I had not thought much about that production until last year when I was selecting plays for the current season. I decided what better way to bring in the fall season than with an evening full of laughter? There is a wonderful sense of limitless joy when we laugh… the world just seems to melt away. These are the moments I love most in the theatre. Director Jeffrey Lo, the cast, and the production team have put together a very healthy dose of laughter for you. I hope each of you can forget the world outside, if only for a few hours, and remember that even in the midst of mayhem humor is never far away. Enjoy! Oh, one more thing! We’ve just begun work on A Christmas Carol. I’m delighted to be directing our holiday show and to be working with a powerful cast and creative production team. I hope you will join us as we bring to life a story of transformations — of a young lonely Ebenezer Scrooge’s gradual evolution into an embittered old man, and the “ghostly” efforts necessary to reconnect him to a world he has dismissed. It’s the perfect way to kick off the (rapidly approaching) holiday season, but I’m warning you now, the last three holiday shows have SOLD OUT so don’t wait to purchase tickets. I promise you will not want to miss this one!

Rosie has also designed properties for Woodside Community Theatre and San Mateo High School and has been known to travel outside the country in search of the perfect item. She is thrilled to have the opportunity once again to work on her favorite play and keep track of how many sardines go AWOL every night, even though she refuses to eat them in real life. “Love to David, Chris, and Taryn.” STEPHEN MUTERSPAUGH (Fight Choreographer) has performed regionally with Southwest Shakespeare Company, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Creede Repertory Theatre, Pacific Conservatory Theatre, Powerhouse Theatre, and the Geva Theatre Center. the Guard (Lamplighters Musical Theatre). When not managing a stage or making properties, Elisabeth can be found at TAP Plastics, the Dickens Christmas Fair, or performing with the Guild of St. George. CAMERON WELLS (Dialect Coach) is thrilled to take part in his first Hillbarn production. As a dialect coach, his work has been heard at the Dragon Theatre, San Jose Stage Company, and Santa Clara University. Cameron’s next project is assistant director on the January production of Frost/ Nixon at TheatreWorks. HILLBARN THEATRE was founded by Robert Brauns and Sam Rolph as an outgrowth of the Peninsula Little Theatre, a community theatre founded in 1936. Hillbarn’s name comes from its first home: the Pingrey Barn on the hill at 43rd Avenue and Hillbarn Court in San Mateo. The company had two more homes before its permanent move to Foster City thanks to a gift of the land from T. Jack Foster, whose son T. Jack Foster, Jr. and granddaughter Lee Foster remained active in Hillbarn’s operations and creative life for many years. Hillbarn is now the sixth oldest continuously operating amateur theatre company in the nation. It is the oldest company in San Mateo County, and it continues to embrace the founding ideal: “To create theatre with the community, for the community, striving always for excellence in production and education.” hillbarntheatre.org * Member of Actors’ Equity Association, the Union of Professional Actors and Stage Managers.
