Human Services Advocate Certificate

Human Services is the study of how to help people improve their life. This program prepares you to become a social services assistant. Graduates may find employment assisting social workers and other social service workers in helping clients find appropriate community services, benefits, and resources. They may work with special populations such as children, veterans, homeless, immigrants, former inmates, and the disabled.

Program Length 1 year (2 semesters) Career Opportunities A growing demand for human services assistants is projected for several special populations including aging adults.

Tuition & Fees At only $162.11 per credit hour, you’ll

save $10K to $22K, in tuition costs alone, by starting at VHCC! Out-of-state students living within a 30-mile radius qualify for in-state tuition.

Dr. Winona Fleenor has an extensive teaching career in the social sciences and human services. In addition to teaching, she has community service experience in the field, volunteering in many different capacities and serving on numerous community boards and committees.
