DME SUBSTITUTIONS AND MONITORING

At HOMELINK, we believe in responsible recovery. Our goal will always be to provide the right equipment to the injured worker at the right time. We evaluate every order to ensure the equipment is suitable, available, and needed by the patient. And we handle all communication every step of the way.

ASSESSMENT

• HOMELINK assesses each provider’s order, analyzing it to make sure it’s appropriate for the patient and needed for recovery.

• Our patient care coordinators (PCCs) evaluate alternative options to substitute lower-cost equipment that provides the same recovery benefits, when appropriate.

SHIPPING

• We also evaluate equipment availability to avoid any potential delays to patient care.

• PCCs maintain frequent communication with case managers, adjusters, and patients to ensure items are needed and authorized before shipping.

• HOMELINK never auto-ships equipment or supplies to patients.

MONITORING

• HOMELINK monitors for potential misuse or overuse. If a provider auto-ships supplies or equipment without prior authorization, HOMELINK will deny the bill.

• Retrospective bills are analyzed for trends. When identified, a PCC will contact the adjuster to discuss a more proactive claim engagement.

• Our PCCs handle the communication directly with providers when there are more cost-effective items to provide the needed care.

• For items rented by a patient, a rent-to-purchase or CAP price may be determined at the start of use. Once the price point is met, no further HOMELINK billing will occur.
