TOGETHER WE SERVED.

Since we stood up our first tiny house in Kansas City, Missouri on Christmas Eve, 2017, building homes to protect our brothers and sisters has been Veterans Community Project’s driving passion.

Every time we open a door and welcome another Veteran home, one more battle buddy is safe and accounted for. Whether the battlefield was Vietnam, Afghanistan, or our own backyards, VCP’s commitment to leave no one behind runs deep.

In 2022, VCP donors across the country provided the fuel to expand the mission, supporting new construction projects in Longmont, CO; St. Louis, MO; and Sioux Falls, SD.

While infrastructure and foundations were being laid for new Villages, we welcomed home 20 more Kansas City Veterans to VCP Village and our Outreach Centers in Kansas City and Longmont assisted a record number of Veterans with critical support services.

None of this is possible without your support. Through our collective efforts, we achieved significant milestones and made a meaningful impact on the lives of those we served.

We are proud to share this report as a testament to the care and strength of our community. Together, we accomplish more than any of us could do apart.

With gratitude,

OUR MISSION:

Veterans housing Veterans, armed with the strength and support of the community.

You all saved my life. Thank you.

Having a home has made all the difference. I can get better sleep. I can get back to work. And, you know, now I have somebody to talk to. You can make some good friends here.

VCP provides Veterans and their families with two core pillars of support to help them achieve housing stability, selfsufficiency, and overall improved well-being:

VCP VILLAGE.

VCP Village in Kansas City, Missouri, is a specialized community of 49 tiny homes with on-site, wraparound support services designed to equip Veterans with the tools needed to return to a stable, prosperous, independent life.

With the support of their case managers and battle buddies, Veterans work to achieve incremental, lasting results in the areas of health and wellness, income stability, education and training, fiscal understanding, and the development of a personal support network. Once the Veteran’s individual goals are met, VCP assists him or her in securing a permanent housing solution and transitioning to a new life.

VILLAGE UPDATES.

2022 was the year we watched our renderings come to life Follow our progress on social media in 2023!

WELCOME HOME.

This Army Veteran was at a loss for words as he looked around his new tiny house. He covered his face and fought back tears after realizing that not only did his new home come fully furnished, but it also came with a full fridge.

“How’d you guys do this?” he said with a lump in his throat.

Although he has a long road ahead of him, he’s determined to put in the work to finally address his PTSD, find employment , and get financially stable. Thanks to you, this Veteran will get the help he needs to accomplish his goals and rebuild his life.

Thank you for welcoming him home.

“Words have power. I really believe that. I feel protected and safe in this house. I look around and think about people’s kindness ... I feel their blessings all around me.”

Writing on the walls.

Hundreds of volunteers joined us for build days in St. Louis, MO; Sioux Falls, SD; and Longmont, CO. Some painted, others installed windows or floors, but everyone left their mark.

Before departing for the day, each volunteer crew wrote notes of encouragement, blessing, or gratitude on the unfinished surfaces of a tiny house. Soon, we will be able to tell the Veteran who lives there about the community of support surrounding them, even while they sleep.
