The tale follows how Col. Hannibal Smith (a cigar-chomping Liam Neeson) and prettyboy Lt. Templeton Peck a.k.a. ‘Face’ (Bradley Cooper), first hook up with the hulking Sgt. Bosco ‘B.A.’ Baracus (UFC champ Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson) and ace combat pilot/ certified lunatic, Capt. James ‘Howling Mad’ Murdock (Sharlto Copley). Certain the team has a bond, Hannibal leads his men in countless successful missions – that is, until during a cleanup operation in Iraq, the foursome are framed and individually incarcerated. Cue the overwhelmingly entertaining breakouts, the equally
rambunctious series of double-crosses, and the legs of Jessica Biel, and you have this summer’s Sex and the City for guys – although, such a popcorn pleaser, it’s not too far a reach to see everyone getting a kick out of The A-Team. Casting is key for re-kindling this gang, and both Cooper and Neeson look like they’re having a hoot. Still, the best of ★

the bunch is Copley (District 9), whose energy level is on a nuts-o-meter of its own. And Jackson was actually a nice surprise. Like his predecessor, Mr. T, he can’t act a lick. But he can act like Mr. T – and on this playing field, that’s more than good enough. The feature is currently playing at Galaxy Cinemas in Vernon.
