VEO Motor Excitation
Synchronous machines require excitation. Excitation provides higher power output and torque to the process. Excitation synchronizes the motor with the plant network and improves plant stability. It also enhances communication and offers fast and reliable information on how to direct and control different processes. VEO uses state-of-the-art systems for motor excitation. We will not only excite your machine, but also help your personnel concentrate on keeping the entire process running smoothly.

VEO Motor Exciter is designed for synchronous machines up to 35 MW. zzThe PLC based system is easy to use, robust and can be maintained by the owner. zzAccurate, fast and reliable excitation for static or brushless machines â&#x20AC;&#x201C; for any manufacturersâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; motors. zzSmooth and secured net synchronizing as standard: the synchronizing process for excitation controls prevents factory level blackouts. zzExcitation current range from 1 to 2500 ADC. zzVersatile start sequence control for direct, transformer or reactor start-up of the motor. zzMachine restart prohibition with time display on HMI, which shows when the next start-up is possible.
VEO Motor Exciter has three available controls zzAutomatic
Voltage Regulator (AVR, AUTO): a PID-regulating control is used to adjust stator voltage accurately and rapidly. This control supports the network in case of voltage surges and also supports other starting motors. zzReactive regulating (VAR or Cos F control): is used to maintain plant network reactive power at the required level. This control method is an addition to a fast acting AVR function and is purposely set to act at low speed. zzCurrent regulator (FCR, Manual): FCR is used in motor start-ups and in minor fault situations to maintain production until the next possible maintenance stop.

We use Siemens S7 series programmable PLCs which can be used in various ways to guarantee safe, accurate and fast motor control. A PLC also gives good and easy access to feedback from programmes and measurements
The control panel gives over 60 indications, alarms and trip data for troubleshooting excitation either in English or Russian. In case of an automation fault, you can control the excitation through this panel. There is also a special test feature which will make inspections of the excitation system easier.
