PRÓLOGO
En una época de movimientos erráticos y casi instantáneos, la poesía se plantea como una pausa, un respiro en el que cada palabra cruza fronteras y queda suspendida en el aire. Palabras que se unen para compartir recuerdos y emociones, sentimientos que se deslizan hacia todos los puntos geográficos y que, como si del aire se tratase, se respiran y se acogen en el ser. Ya sea para sonreír junto a Las Villanas de Marcela Parra, para pensar y contemplar el atardecer junto a Don Eduardo Galeano y Julio Etchart o simplemente por compartir la añoranza con Sofía Buchuck o el arrepentimiento con Ignacio Molina, esta antología de poesía permite al lector recuperar trocitos de cultura e historias de vida. Juntamos a poetas que desde muy diversos puntos de partida como Chile, Venezuela, España, México, Colombia, Argentina, Perú y Uruguay nos presentan sus poemas, varios con un punto en común: Londres. Iván Vergara nos ayuda a cruzar el Atlántico a través de vagones y silencio, mientras que Humberto Gatica nos invita a pasear con él por las calles de Londres y Stockwell para finalmente retornar a la Tierra de nadie. Y es que por muy gris que sea el cielo de Londres, Las variaciones sobre la línea cromática de Óscar Guardiola nos traerán una gota de color mientras que María Estévez nos acerca al sueño de Libertad al estar suspendido entre Dos vacíos, esos que se crean en la vida del viajero, del que inmigra, y a quien quizás, como nos explica Eugenia Elizondo, le Rebotan los sueños. Un soplo de aire fresco para pasar de la risa al llanto junto a Octavio Zanón en su Transformación, pero sobre todo, una antología para explorar y explorarse, una invitación al universo de las palabras, donde de la mano de los autores como Cristina Gálvez podremos incluso descubrir La vida secreta de las palabras. Dos idiomas y numerosos países para celebrar la poesía contemporánea latinoamericana y española.

PROLOGUE
In an age of erratic and almost fleeting movements, poetry is like a pause; a breath within which each word crosses borders and remains suspended in the air. Words join with one other to create memories and emotions; feelings disperse to the four corners of the earth as if they were made of air, to be breathed and welcomed by our being. Whether smiling with Las Villanas of Marcela Parra, thinking and contemplating nightfall with Don Eduardo Galeano and Julio Etchart, or simply sharing nostalgia with Sofía Buchuck or regret with Ignacio Molina, this poetry anthology allows the reader to experience fragments of culture and stories about life. These poets come from diverse origins such as Chile, Venezuela, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Peru and Uruguay, but many have one place in common: London. Iván Vergara helps us cross the Atlantic on freight trains in silence, while Humberto Gatica invites us to take a journey through the streets of London and Stockwell, finally returning to No Man’s Land. And however grey the sky may be in London, Variations on the Chromatic Line, by Óscar Guardiola, brings us a splash of colour while María Estévez brings us closer to the dream of Freedom while suspended between Two Voids, those voids which appear in the life of the traveller that immigrates, as Eugenia Elizondo explains, the immigrant whose Dreams Scatter. Poetry such as Octavio Zanón’s Transformation, is a breath of fresh air which reduces us to laughter and then to tears. But above all this is an anthology of exploration through which to explore oneself, an invitation to an universe of words in which the author’s hand, like that of Cristina Gálvez, is able to lead us to discover The Secret Life of Words. Two languages and numerous countries here come together to celebrate contemporary Latin American and Spanish poetry.

MARÍA ESTEVEZ-SERRANO
Se define a sí misma como actora y escritora. Empezó a escribir en cuanto pudo porque las palabras se le agolpaban en la boca y no podía ordenarlas. Y empezó a actuar, porque era mucho más fácil hablar con una máscara puesta.
En Madrid, su ciudad natal, cursó sus estudios en Arte Dramático y Filosofía. Estudios que no tiene muy claro si le dieron la claridad de mente o se la quitaron por

completo. No obstante está segura de que le ayudaron a ser consciente de lo que quería contar…¿cómo lo cuenta? Con poesía, relatos, teatro, cine, danza, performance…depende del momento y del lugar.
En 2008 se muda a Londres y desde entonces vive a caballo entre Londres y Madrid a la que vuelve siempre que puede. En la actualidad se encuentra compilando su primer volúmen de poemas y relatos cortos: Lullaby para no dormir (Canción de cuna to be awake).

MARÍA ESTEVEZ-SERRANO
María defines herself as an actor and a writer. She began to write as soon as she could because she found that words became tangled in her mouth and were difficult to put into order. She began to act because it was easier to speak from behind a mask.
In Madrid, her native city, she studied philosophy and the dramatic arts. She did not find these studies straightforward, leaving her unsure as to whether they gave her mental clarity or did the exact opposite. However she was sure that they helped her to become conscious of what she wanted to convey…but how would she do this? With poetry, stories, theatre, cinema, dance and performance…depending on the place and the moment.

JULIO ETCHART
Julio Etchart creció en Uruguay y se mudó al Reino Unido en los años 70, donde estudió fotografía documental en el Newport Art College en Gales. Desde Entonces ha viajado alrededor del mundo y ha trabajado como fotógrafo e investigador para compañías de televisión y cine. De

Julio Etchart es cofundador de Reportage Photos y distribuye imágenes en línea a través de Still Pictures y Panos Pictures en el Reino Unido. Después de ganar el primer premio del concurso mundial de fotografía de prensa (World Press Photo) en 1992 en la sección de medio ambiente, Julio produjo, con el apoyo de la Unión Europea, una exposición itinerante titulada “Los cuatro elementos”, la cual se enfocaba en la degradación del medio ambiente. Entre sus últimos proyectos se encuentra la obra “Toys: los campos de juegos” que fue publicada por Mets & Schilt en Amsterdam en holandés, alemán e inglés.

JULIO ETCHART
Julio Etchart grew up in Uruguay and later moved to the United Kingdom during the 1970s where he studied documental photography at the Newport Art College in Wales. Since then he has travelled around the world and has worked as a photographer and researcher for cinematic and television companies. Etchart regularly produces audio-visual material for non-governmental organisations such as War on Want, Save the Children, OXFAM and the European Union, among others whilst, at the same time working with tourism agencies, event promoters and magazines which cover musical events, dance festivals and theatre. Etchart is co-founder of Reportage Photos and distributes images online through Still Pictures and Panos Pictures, both based in the United Kingdom.
in 1992 within the environmental category, Julio produced, along with the support of the European Union, a touring exhibition entitled, The Four Elements, which focused on the disintegration of the environment. Among his latest projects are Toys: the Fields of Games, which was published by Mets & Schilt (based in Amsterdam) in Dutch, German and English.

Sofía Buchuck, es originaria de Cuzco, Perú, la capital de los Incas. Desde su infancia ha cantado canciones tradicionales, afición que le llevó a desarrollar una carrera

procedentes de Ayacucho, con su estilo único de Huayno (quizás el ritmo más auténtico de su país). Sofía estudió Jazz y soul en renombrados lugares de Londres como la Music Factory, el colegio Morley y en el City Lit. Además, tiene una licenciatura en estudios españoles y latinoamericanos e hizo una investigación

cultural en la Escuela Nacional de Música de México en 2003. Se ha presentado en diferentes ciudades en Europa y en Inglaterra. Participante en diversos programas de radio para la comunidad latinoamericana de Londres, Sofía también intervino en películas y documentales entre los que destacan “Los Incas”, “Evita” y “Una canción para Nicaragua”. Como poeta ha publicado en numerosas antologías tanto en inglés como en español y en 2003 publicó en México una colección con sus obras más recientes titulada “Al otro lado de América”. Sofía ganó recientemente el premio de plata en Voices.com de Estados Unidos con su poema “América Morena” y es fundadora de “poetas latinoamericanos en UK”, un evento anual organizado desde 2001 en honor al poeta peruano Cesar Vallejo.

SOFIA BUCHUCK
Sofia Buchuck is from Cusco, Peru, famously known as the Capital of the Incas. As a child she sang traditional songs, a passion that led to her career as a professional singer of predominantly Andean music from Ayacucho. These songs are sung in the unique Huayno style, considered to be perhaps the most authentic style of Peruvian rhythms. Buchuck studied jazz and soul at prestigious London based establishments such as the Music Factory, Morley College and City Lit. She also has a BA Honours in Spanish and Latin American Studies and undertook a cultural research project at Mexico’s National School of Music in 2003. She has performed in different cities in Europe and in England. She has been involved in various radio programmes aimed at London’s Latin American Community, and the making of films and documentaries, examples including, The Incas, Evita, and
Her poetic work has been published in various anthologies in both English and Spanish. In Mexico she published a collection of her most recent work entitled Al Otro Lado de America, (The Other Side of America) (2003). Sofia recently won the silver prize for her poem America Morena at Voices.com in the USA. She is also the founder of Latin American Poets in the UK, an annual event set up in 2001 in honour of the Peruvian Poet Cesar Vallejo.

MARCELA PARRA
Marcela Parra es poeta, compositora e intérprete musical. Como poeta ha publicado dos títulos en Chile, Silabario, Mancha (2008) y Ambulancia (2010), que fueron reeditados en España y Argentina. Obtuvo el premio Enrique Lihn en el XXIX Concurso Nacional de Arte y Poesía Joven (Universidad de Valparaíso) y recibió las becas Fundación Pablo Neruda y Beca de Creación literaria del CNCA para escritores emergentes.

Poemas suyos han sido distribuídos en las ciudades de Berlín y Londres por el colectivo Casagrande. Su poesía también ha sido traducida al inglés y al alemán y publicada en revistas y libros en Chile, Argentina, Perú, México, Inglaterra, España y Alemania. Como compositora e intérprete musical, en este 2015 estrenará su primer álbum “Astronautas en la playa” producido por Estudios Banana Récords. El trabajo de Marcela se caracteriza por la vinculación al repertorio de la guitarra clásica latinoamericana y otras corrientes contemporáneas relacionadas con la música tradicional chilena y portuguesa, con músicos de rock de la década de los años 70 como Neil Young y Bert Jansch y la música islandesa como Björk y Sigur Rós. Marcela Parra es también bajista y vocalista de la banda chilena de rock Clarens.

MARCELA PARRA
Marcela Parra is a poet, composer and musician. As a poet she has had two books published in Chile, Silabario, Mancha (2008) and Ambulancia (2010), which were re-edited in Spain and Argentina. She was awarded the Enrique Lihn Prize at the XXIX Concurso Nacional de Arte y Poesía Joven (XXIX Art and Young Poets National Competition) (University of Valparaíso) and has also received grants from the Fundación Pablo Neruda (Pablo Neruda Foundation) and a creative writing grant from CNCA for emerging writers. The Casagrande Collective has distributed her poetry in both Berlin and London. Her poems have been translated into English and German and have featured in books and magazines in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, England, Spain and Germany.
(Astronauts on the Beach) (Estudios Banana Récords) in 2015. Her work is characterised by links between the repertoire of classic Latin American guitar, contemporary traditional Chilean and Portuguese music, rock music from the 1970s such as Neil Young and Bert Jansch and Icelandic music such as Björk and Sigur Rós. Marcela Parra is also a bassist and vocalist for the Chilean rock band Clarens.

En la villa nos encuentran ricas a todas. ¿Será por el uso de material ligero formando pliegues en casas y faldas? ¿será que su metáfora no es el caviar sino la Fanta con tacos de mortadela?
Qué calendario ni qué vecino. Con mis hermanas a esas desnutridas les declaramos lenta guerra. Borrando sus dientes con lápiz pasta poniendo bigotes y juntando cejas porque mi madre rellenita cocinaba frente a ese muro
A fines de diciembre el calendario daba risa y pena. Sin embargo cada enero, con enemigo renovado cargaríamos nuestros lápices para la próxima contienda.

I could be the girl from the Capel calendars that my uncle gave away to my father in the eighties. The same from Grandpa’s bicycle repair shop my brother’s imaginary girlfriend the one my cousin used to draw.

Neither calendar nor neighbour With my sisters against those malnourished girls we declared slow war. Erasing their teeth with thick pencil, Giving them moustaches and mono eyebrows, because my plump little mother cooked in front of that wall.
At the end of December the calendar was laughable and pitiful Yet every January, with renewed enemy We would ready our pencils for the next fight.

HUMBERTO GATICA
Humberto Gatica nació y creció en Chile y actualmente vive en el País de Gales en el Reino Unido. Como poeta ha publicado dos libros de poesía: Ring y otros poemas (1987) y El jardín de arena (2008). Iván Vergara García was born in Mexico in 1979. He is a poet, musician, editor, literary anthologist and a cultural promoter. He currently lives in Seville where he runs the PLACA (Platform for Andalusian Chilango Artists), a project which promotes Mexican and Spanish culture, creating connections and bringing together artists, poets and creative individuals from different regions. Furthermore, working as an event promoter, he created, organised and coordinated the six editions of RCA (The Andaluz Chilango Recital) in Seville, Mexico City and other Andalusian cities. He has been involved in various artistic projects working as a theatre actor and director, a director of short films and as a radio presenter. He was also a member of the folk-rock group Mañana, with whom he released his first record A Ver Quién Llega Antes al Fin (Look Who Arrives

Eugenia Elizondo was born in Monterrey in the Mexican State of Nuevo León. However she has spent a large part of her life living in Tijuana. There she actively explored this land within her poetic work. She graduated from the University of Regiomontana with a degree in Communication. Her work has been published in magazines, poetry blogs and anthologies at both national and international levels. She contributed to the bilingual anthology, the San Diego Poetry Annual (2013-2014). Ignacio Molina was born in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, in 1976. CRISTINA GÁLVEZ
Cristina Gálvez Martos (Caracas, Venezuela, 24 de febrero de 1987). Licenciada en letras por la UCV, ganó el premio para autores inéditos de Monte Ávila Editores en 2013, en el renglón de poesía, con su poemario Psicopompa. Fue parte del taller de poesía de Armando Rojas Guardia durante dos años. Además asistió al taller de creación poética del Celarg 2013-2014, a cargo de Belén Ojeda y continuamente fue seleccionada para el

taller del período 2014-2015, impartido por Rafael Castillo Zapata. Sus textos están recogidos en las antologías I Concurso de Cuento Corto y Poesía ´Caupolicán Ovalles´ (El Perro y la Rana, Venezuela, 2014); Grito de mujer (Movimiento Mujeres Poetas Internacional, Puerto Rico, 2014) y Jamming 102 poetas (Óscar Todtmann editores, Venezuela, 2014). Ha realizado diversos talleres de fotografía, y sus trabajos fueron parte de la exposición colectiva Urbanamente. Caracas, una ciudad fotosensible (Universidad Simón Bolívar, 2010). Se ha desempeñado dictando talleres de creación literaria, y actualmente trabaja como investigadora en el área cultural. Desde 2013 se forma como profesora de yoga con la Asociación Internacional Yoga Yoghismo.

CRISTINA GÁLVEZ
Cristina Gálvez Martos was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1987. Cristina graduated with a humanities degree from UCV. She won a prize for unedited authors at Monte Ávila Editores in 2013, and also within the poetry category for her poem Psicopompa. For two years she was part of a poetry workshop directed by Armando Rojas Guardia. She assisted at the Celarg poetry workshop during 2013-2014, run by Belén Ojeda and was selected for the workshop, run by Rafael Castillo Zapata, during 2014-2015. Her writing is featured in the anthologies, I Concurso de Cuento Corto y Poesía ´Caupolicán Ovalles´ (First Competition of Short Stories and Poetry ´Caupolicán Ovalles´) (El Perro y la Rana, Venezuela, 2014); Grito de Mujer (Female Shout) (Movimiento Mujeres Poetas Internacional/ Movement of International Female Poets, Puerto Rico, 2014) and Jamming 102 Poetas (Oscar
Cristina has also completed several photographic workshops. Her photographic works were part of the collective exhibition Urbanamente: Caracas, una Ciudad Fotosensible (Urbanamente: Caracas, a Photosensitive City) (Universidad Simón Bolívar, 2010). She runs workshops in creative writing and currently works as a researcher within the cultural sector. Since 2013 she has been studying to become a yoga teacher at the Asociación Internacional Yoga Yoghismo (International Yoga Yoghismo Association).

unravel the words the sarcophagus in their mouths open it to see that they have swallowed their seashell lips lowering by the spiral approaching the secret
to know why my name was always so yellow and not red, like the dawn to know if they are the nerve of things

no precisara pintarme la escena del astro desnudo, mordido por bestiecillas con ojos de fuego. Entra y baja gente dónde van, dónde se quedan estos sujetos con vida de sujetos que toman el autobús. Todos son la misma muchacha cuya belleza no encuentro en mí : sujeto, siempre sujeta a la silla de algo que se mueve solo, pelusa de los parques de banco en banco, amaestrada. El bus seguirá hacia la nada pero me bajo en una parada cualquiera. Tampoco me atrevo a tanto.

The Bus I got on the bus going nowhere and passed through all the streets 8 de Octubre Comercio Solferino carpeted with leaves, with dogs and sepia cobblestones, people wrapped in their coats, trees so well dressed in their bark. Look, if you called me Solferina Gálvez I would not need to paint myself the scene with eyes of fire. People get on and get off where they go, where they stay these individuals with lives of individuals that take the bus. All the same young woman whose beauty I do not find in myself: the individual, always fixed to the seat of something that moves on its own dust from the parks from bench to bench artfully. The bus will go until reaching nothingness but I get off at an ordinary stop. My daring doesn’t extend that far.
