SELF-CONTROL

節制
This week provides an opportunity for us to grow in our faith through the discipline of self-control, particularly through fasting. Suggestions: Fast from food for a day or from a bad habit, take a TV fast, don’t shop for a week, practice control over your tongue, etc. Add self-control to knowledge (v. 6). To know is vitally important, but it is not enough. We are to do what we know we should do. In many of our lives, there is a great gulf between our knowledge and our conduct. The Greek word for “self-control” is sometimes translated as “temperance” or “restraint”. It is one element of the fruit of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:23. In the real sense of the term, it means more than “self” being in control. A more descriptive and accurate term would be “God-control.” Only when we are under the control of the Holy Spirit can we then be self-controlled. 本周我們要通過節制來加強信心，尤其是通過自制。建議：禁食一 天、戒掉一個壞習慣、不要看電視、一個星期不去商場採購、練習勒 住你的口舌等等。 「知識加上節制」（第六節）。知識雖然非常重要，但單憑知識是不 足夠的。我們應該去做我們知道所該做的，但是在許多人的生活中， 知識與行為之間有很大的隔閡。希臘文中的「節制」有時會被翻譯為 「克制」或「約束」。這是加拉太書五章23節裡所說的聖靈果子之 一，實際上不僅僅是「自我」克制，更好更確切的形容詞是「由上帝 控制」，只有在聖靈的控制之下我們才能自我節制。
