A escola infantil situa-se na encosta de um antigo quartel. Devido à grande pendente do local, propõe-se um edifício escalonado, de forma a adaptar-se à mesma, através da separação do programa em módulos.
ESCOLA INFANTIL EM TETUAN. 2008
Cada um destes módulos está definido por tres linhas: chão, fachada e cobertura. Estas linhas sufrem desplazamentos relativos para crear diferentes espaços: libres, cobertos, fechados, etc. A linha de fachada é definida pela superficie necesaria para cada programa. Assim, cream-se espaços circulares, adaptados as necesidades das crianzas, con possibilidade de aderirse unos a otros e formar espaços maiores. A construção da fachada é feita por peças de cerâmica extrudida de grande formato e directriz curva. O uso destes peças permete a sua adaptaçao as superficies curvas de cada programa.

uso Industrial estado Projecto lugar Castelões, Penafiel, Portugal ano 2007-2008 área 1680 m2 prémios Finalista Prémio Secil Universidades 2010 Parte-se de duas ideias fundamentais: a Paisagem enquanto matéria-prima (1) e como forma de posicionamento (2) (1) A formalização do projecto surge de forma quase natural. Partindo do programa da Adega, a forma brota a partir da plataforma de terreno onde se insere. De seguida, em função do enquadramento visual que se pretende evidenciar, o volume rasga-se e abre-se à paisagem. Gera-se uma excepção; um volume que se ergue acima dos outros e que se afirma no lugar. Finalmente, processa-se um destacamento de parte da volumetria, elevando-se perante o terreno existente, dando-lhe autonomia. O edifício molda-se desta forma, em função do lugar, partindo ele próprio da plataforma de terra onde efectivamente assenta. Deste modo, os planos verticais “são” as camadas terra, enquanto que os planos horizontais são a continuidade do terreno existente, a novas cotas. (2) A ideia de implantação desenvolve-se a partir da orientação geométrica dos alinhamentos das vinhas, no vale a Sul, que estabelecem uma relação visual extremamente relevante no horizonte. Desta forma, sem referências aparentes, a geometria das vinhas torna-se fundamental para a orientação do projecto. Partindo desde alinhamento, procura-se desenhar um percurso contínuo (perpendicular às vinhas) que se aproxime gradualmente do objecto edificado que, pela sua modulação, permeia as vistas, enfatizando uma relação para com a paisagem de forma subtil e através de pequenas impressões. A loja-oficina situa-se no centro de Madrid. Com dimensões de 3 x 15 metros e 3 metros de alturas, era preciso diferenciar duas zonas dentro da mesma: pública e privada. A diferenciação entre uma e outra será feita por meio dos materiais chão, e do balcão. As prateleiras são concebidas como árvores que colonizam as paredes. Como materiais de construção, o aço e madeira. O uso de madeira reciclada de antigos barcos, antigas árvores, faz criar uma nova natureza dentro de esta nova loja natural no centro da cidade.

A “Villa de Medios” era suposta de acolher 5000 jornalistas durante os Jogos Olímpicos de Verão em Madrid no ano 2016. Situava-se perto de Valdebebas, próxima a Cidade Desportiva do Real Madrid e ao lado dos novos pavilhões de IFEMA onde o Main Press Center (CPP) e o Centro Internacional para radio e televisão (CIRTV) iriam ser situados. A aproximação a intervenção foi pensada em 3 escalas: - Nível 1: Quarteirão É especialmente importante a conexão com as infraestructuras do CIRTV e CPP. Como condição de partida, os veículos privativos não são permitidos. - Nível 2: Grupos Os módulos podem ser agrupados de forma livre, mantendo as seguentes caracteristicas: - Temporalidade-Reutilização - Transporte-Sustentabilidade-Reciclagem - Novas tecnologias - Pre-fabricação Nível 3: Módulos Com as caracteristicas técnicas dum hotel de 4 estrelas, a estratégia centra-se no legado deixado depois dos jogos, e em criar benefícios ao longo prazo. The new building will be a superposition of a resident’s car park, a language school, a music school, a school of the native language and culture and a municipal auditorium. The chosen site is at the tip of a high residential spine. It is visible from the valley and it has spectacular views towards the mountain ridges to the north. The various uses are stacked like bars of chalk. Each institution, that once would have occupied an entire building, still retains some of its corporeal independence. The citizens can identify the building both as a single unit and as a whole. Befitting its time, the construction has been planned with simple materials – stone and stucco – and with very controlled openings. Not only can one go through the interior, but also the roofs are accessible at different heights, some of which are configured as outdoor spaces directed towards the mountain views. The auditorium participates in this duality between the closed and the open, and alternately it opens or closes its stage towards the valley. Again, the project is compressed, and finds its conscience in that intimacy. Unwittingly, it becomes a natural accident, a mound, a cluster or a rocky quirk.

Remodelação de um espaço de comércio e serviços com 400m2. Conceito A nossa proposta está estruturada num conceito chave; o conceito de leveza. Através da poética do livro de Milan Kundera, podemos relacionar o termo leveza com o termo liberdade. Por sua vez, desejando um “lugar contemporâneo”, um lugar capaz de responder a distintas organizações espaciais, estamos a desejar um lugar livre, um lugar descomprometido. É este tipo de espaço, com e como qualidade arquitectónica, o target da marca Howe. Por fim, quanto ao seu design, não será também a Howe uma marca leve? Pensamos que sim.

The new building will be a superposition of a resident’s car park, a language school, a music school, a school of the native language and culture and a municipal auditorium. The chosen site is at the tip of a high residential spine. It is visible from the valley and it has spectacular views towards the mountain ridges to the north. The various uses are stacked like bars of chalk. Each institution, that once would have occupied an entire building, still retains some of its corporeal independence. The citizens can identify the building both as a single unit and as a whole. Befitting its time, the construction has been planned with simple materials – stone and stucco – and with very controlled openings. Not only can one go through the interior, but also the roofs are accessible at different heights, some of which are configured as outdoor spaces directed towards the mountain views. The auditorium participates in this duality between the closed and the open, and alternately it opens or closes its stage towards the valley. Again, the project is compressed, and finds its conscience in that intimacy. Unwittingly, it becomes a natural accident, a mound, a cluster or a rocky quirk. A vista nocturna da maqueta

LANDSCAPE ELEMENTS 1. Nursery. Preliminary assessment by an arboriculturalist indicates that the existing sycamore tree to the west of the site is diseased and potentially unsafe. It is proposed to be felled. Precedent for proposed felling of this tree set by previous planning permission. Removal of other trees, notably the large ash would potentially be considered a significant loss of amenity and should be retained. The constraints of the site largely dictate the placement of the new building. Building placed away from walls to create external spaces, central core with ‘free’ perimeter and spaces surrounding this which look onto the external spaces. Roof of building considereds as landscape form. 2. Entrance forecourt. New surfacing (resin bonded gravel or similar). Entrance canopy integrated with existing trees. 3. New trees. a. Tree as ‘seat’ and gathering point - first encounter with the new nursery is with a majestic tree. Reinforces woodland quality of the site & brings it close to entrance to the site. b. & c. together with a, re-connects site of the original building with the setting. d. Fruiting hedge. Planting of new trees mitigates against loss of existing sycamore (likely to be a condition for obtaining planning permission). Planting of trees within area of existing building slab is anticipated to be least contentious in relation to human remains given requirement for limited additional removal of soil, and also integrates area of slab with the rest of the site. Planting of trees contributes toward long term tree management plan and re-planting strategy for the whole site (to be established on the basis of an arboricultural assessment of condition and anticipated lifespan of existing trees, and in consultation with relevant authorities). 4. Community Kitchen garden for use by parents, children and staff - defined by new fruit trees and new raised planting beds. Takes advantage of sunlight on the site and north wall. Close relationship with kitchen. Composting and recycling. Space for outside dining. 5. Play area. Minimal intervention to existing. a. New deck marries in with existing deck and hard landscaping. Frames existing ash tree. Negotiates levels. Supporting posts set into shallow concrete pads (placed where possible on former pathways - refer to constraints diagram and archaeology strategy). b. Existing water feature adapted to incorporate mains fed drinking fountain. Foot press to allow operation by children. c. New mound - creates a place for children to develop climbing and motor skills (eg ropes hanging from top of mound). Located in place of existing raised beds. Helps to minimise spoil from the construction site. d. Existing raised walkway / hut refurbished. e. Existing building slab proposed to be retained, surface repaired - for scooter, bike play, play parachute etc. 6. Planted garden. Intimate space - looked onto by children, staff, parents. Plants that thrive in shade, with changing scenery through seasons. Bird boxes, animal habitat. Area gated to control access times of children. 7. Internal ‘Tree house’ as a memory of the Sycamore tree. 8. ‘Green’ roof: Given shaded nature of the site, selected species would be from those naturally occurring in woodland setting, supports diverse range of bird, insect and animal species. (Lindum Wildflower system min 70 mm growing medium depth required).

A proposta planeta a recuperação de uma igreja do século XV, um edifício catalogado de Interesse Cultural, como mediateca que dinamize e actualize o centro urbano de San Cristóbal de La Laguna. A actuação estabelece um “chão programático” e uma cobertura de controlo solar em relação ao programa da praça. A cobertura está formada por vigas de madeira microlaminada de grande esbeltez. Nas zonas onde for necesario, a estrutura é completada por um elemento secundário de controlo solar.

O desafio era parametrizar uma estrutura de madeira para obter a melhor combinação entre riqueza do espaço + comportamento estrutural + economia de material. A estrutura está inserida em um edifício existente, e mediante um processo de abstração do conteúdo da exposição, cria-se o sentimento de estar dentro de uma gruta. O uso de programas de desenho paramétrico permite ver as variações a tempo real, a sua percepção no espaço e comportamento estrutural.

A antiga igreja de Puente Castro forma parte do Caminho de Santiago ao seu passo por León. O programa que albergará será um centro de acolhida ao peregrino e o Museu das Três Culturas. As variações espaciais do projecto materializan-se no movimento e combinação das 5 grandes portas existentes e ocultas nas paredes perimetrais. Estas variações permitem uma maior flexibilidade, versatilidade e funcionalidade, dependendo das necessidades de cada momento, ou da importância de cada programa, o espaço pode ser reconfigurado.

O Espaço VIAS é um lugar concebido para e desde a acção, é uma aposta radical pela implicação da cidadania na construção da cidade. O projecto reabilita uma antiga estrutura ferroviária para a produção artística, da um novo equipamento para a juventude e regenera a área urbana no centro de León mediante a recuperação das linhas de FEVE como espaço publico.

O programa exigia uma serie de usos diferentes, sem saber no ordem em que iam ser construídos nem a sua posição dentro do solar. Como resposta, um sistema onde o primordial era que cada uso respondesse as suas necessidades, seja quando for construído, e seja onde for situado. Por outra parte, a compactação da proposta genera um espaço público livre de grande dimensão, que cambia e modifica em função dos programas futuros. Este sistema oferece diferentes configurações espaciais. O espaço publico organiza os acesos e comunicações, tanto públicas como privadas. Os condicionantes internos do sistema permitem obter sempre critérios de funcionalidade e conforto em todas as dependências do edifício.
