Now that you h a v e c o m e to the e n d of the y e a r b o o k ( h o p e f u l l y h a v i n g r e a d it) I h o p e you liked it. If not, too bad. This book w a s designed f o r the s t u d e n t s as a v i e w of H o p e College as it really is. To put together a y e a r b o o k it really takes a lot of w o r k a n d a lot of people. W e h a d a lot of w o r k but f e w people. I w o u l d like to say t h a n k s to Marty, Pattie, Eric, Jan and Pete w h o gave s o m e of their time to h e l p m e w h e n I n e e d e d them. A special t h a n k s is in o r d e r to R a n d y P u t a l a a n d Sue T h o r n t o n w h o did a great deal more than I could ever h a v e h o p e d for. A n d of c o u r s e my staff; Steve Mancinelli w h o t y p e d a n d read c o u n t less pages of names, Karen Strock w h o got full of ink using Bic m e d i u m point pens to d r a w layouts, Don Seise, the quickest pen in the m i d w e s t w h o d e v e l o p e d s o m e u n u s u a l s k e t c h e s that w e c o u l d n ' t even a t t e m p t to put in the yearbook. A n d to Bill Mc A n d r e w w h o w i p e d out the colleee c o m p u t e r only o n c e w h i l e w o r k i n g on a yearbook p r o g r a m . W i t h o u t their help, t h e r e might h a v e b e e n no y e a r b o o k . T h e n there are my t e a c h e r s w h o put up w i t h my drifting in and out, my p a r e n t s w h o put u p w i t h the m e s s 1 m a d e w i t h the y e a r b o o k m a t e r i a l s that 1 brought home, and there is p r o b a b l y s o m e o n e out t h e r e that 1 forgot to m e n t i o n . As I c o m p l e t e d these final pages, I can't h e l p but w o n d e r w h e t h e r or not these are really the final pages of the Milestone forever. As of this time, t h e r e is no editor for the y e a r b o o k , a n d it is d o u b t f u l that t h e r e will be, unless some naive f r e s h m a n can be talked into the job. O n e m a i n r e a s o n for the t r o u b l e in f i n d i n g p e o p l e to do the y e a r b o o k is lack of s u f f i c i e n t f i n a n c i a l c o m p e n s a t i o n f o r services r e n d e r e d . It seems p e o p l e w o u l d like to believe that it s h o u l d be an h o n o r a n d privilege to w o r k for one's school. T r u e , t h e r e is s o m e w h a t of an honor to say that you w e r e an editor of the y e a r b o o k b u t t h e r e is not n e a r l y e n o u g h s a t i s f a c t i o n to m o t i v a t e a person to put in several h u n d r e d h o u r s of w o r k . T h e college m u s t be willing to p a y s t u d e n t s m o r e t h a n a t o k e n sum for the w o r k they do. W h e n the college is willing they will find s t u d e n t s willing to w o r k .

Yours truly.
