Celebrate St George’s Day

Introducing Cellar Magneval

The Richard Onslow in Cranleigh is marking the national day with not one but three days of fantastic St George’s Day food and festivities on the weekend of 22nd to 24th April.

Cellar Magneval Boutique de Vins & Épicerie Fine is a new, fine wine store situated in Ripley.

There will be a brilliant tasting and talk by English charcuterie experts, gin and beer tastings, a children’s baking competition and some Morris Dancing to make it a great celebration of all things English.

It opened in December in one of Ripley’s 15th century buildings, complete with its own wine cellar so the stock can be kept in perfect storage conditions. The owners are local to Surrey, Jo and Thierry de Magneval, formerly Manager at a number of the Roux family restaurants and Sommelier (respectively) to Pierre Koffmann.

“We’re hoping that this St George’s weekend will be a great opportunity for everyone to come together at that great institution that is the pub and celebrate some of the best traditions we have in this country,” says Terri Dell, general manager.

When the opportunity arose to open a slightly different offering a new fine wine store, fine foods and deli, they jumped at the challenge. They are open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am–8pm so why not pay them a visit?
