MAYOR Welcome from the Mayor, I want to welcome you to Midwest City! Thank you for choosing Midwest City as your destination. I am proud to be a lifelong resident and to serve as the mayor.

Town Center Plaza offers many shopping and restaurant venues that will appeal to your every want or need and the venues just keep growing. I venture to say that once you get here you will not have to leave for anything.

Midwest City is the largest city in Eastern Oklahoma County and home to several attractions, great shopping and terrific restaurants. The community is 26 square miles and has a population of 57,000. Sitting at the crossroads of I-40, I-44 and I-35, we are just minutes from everything that Oklahoma’s Frontier Country has to offer.

I also recommend our 34 public parks to include our new 3-mile Bike Trail Park located on NE 23rd Street. You can explore the history of Tinker Air Force Base and the many aircrafts it has serviced throughout the years at the Major Charles B. Hall Memorial Air Park. The Midwest City owned and operated John Conrad Golf Course offers 18 holes of challenging golf and was rated four stars by Golf Digest. During the summer months, you can also cool off at our Reno Swim ‘n Slide and attend a concert in the park at Town Center.

Midwest City and Tinker Air Force Base celebrated our 75th year anniversaries in 2017. It was a very exciting year of events and celebrations culminating with our 6th Veterans Day Parade and the dedication of a C-47 that was actually built at Tinker in 1944 and flew in the D-Day invasion of World War II. That aircraft is on static display at our Veterans Memorial located at Joe. B. Barnes Regional Park. I am confident that 2018 will be just as exciting with the anticipated opening of the Warren Theater in November 2018 and many other venues for shopping and entertainment for our community. This will be a welcome addition to our Reed Conference Center, Rose State College Professional Training Center, Atkinson Heritage Center and over 800 well equipped hotel rooms.

Once dubbed “America’s Model City,” we strive every day to maintain that status and operate with the attitude of the Oklahoma “Spirit Flies High” here with friendliness and hospitality. It is an honor to have you here in our great city.

Matthew (Matt) Dukes II Mayor of Midwest City

MIDWEST CITY:

A VISION OF THE FUTURE

Welcome to Midwest City! Our colorful history was written by visionaries, our strong foundation crafted on innovation. The future of Midwest City has yet to be penned, but all signs indicate a vibrant and boundless destiny in the years to come. Conveniently located on the edge of the sprawling metropolitan area of Oklahoma City, Midwest City provides the comforts of midwestern charm with our warm and welcoming residents in a modern, urban setting that continues to grow with each passing year. From the original square mile carved out of an undeveloped section of central Oklahoma rose a family-friendly community designed to support one of the most critical military bases in the United States, Tinker Air Force Base, now Oklahoma’s largest single-site employer. Dubbed ‘America’s Model City’ in 1941, Midwest City’s 75-year evolution from a post-war time community to a booming center of modern economic and social development was a fastpaced metamorphosis. In the past year alone, Midwest City saw the opening of several new and unique restaurants, shopping plazas and the highly-anticipated Soldier Creek Industrial Park Recreational Trail featuring multi-purpose off-road paths

for cyclists and adventure enthusiasts alike. In addition, Midwest City welcomed the homecoming of an original C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft used by Allied forces on D-Day during World War II. The C-47 Skytrain was created at the former Douglas Aircraft Company Plant in Midwest City, which constructed more than half of the 10,000 cargo planes used in the war. The Skytrain display is one of only two in existence, and is available for viewing at the Midwest City Veterans Memorial in Charles B. Hall Airpark at Tinker Air Force Base. The spirit of Midwest City continues soaring to new heights and never loses sight of building and improving to construct the perfect destination to live, work, visit and play. But don’t just take our word for it – experience the exceptional character and allure of our great city for yourself! Visitors and residents alike delight in the abundance of exceptional eateries, shopping, historical spaces, arts and culture. Take an afternoon stroll through the impressive Town Center Plaza shopping center, catch a premiere show year-round at the 1,400-seat Rose State College Hudiburg Chevrolet Center, enjoy a locally-crafted ale at Roughtail Brewery’s Tap House or plan a visit to the growing hospitality

The Warren Theatre, set to open in fall of 2018, will feature four balconies with restaurant and bar service, upscale amenities and state-of-the-art sound and projection technology in each auditorium. Expansions and additions are abounding in our centrally-located community, and there’s no shortage of riveting changes on the horizon.
