Mr. Ahmed Tukur is the Managing Director, Daddo Commodities, a division of Daddo Group of Companies. The Fulani young man from Adamawa State is our guest on this edition of Celebrity Tummy Talk. He speaks on the secret of his good looking and healthy lifestyle.

AN you tell us what your growing up was in terms of

food? I come from a diverse family and so grew up to love both continental and Nigerian delicacies. From Tuo Masara, Edikai kong, Efo riro. Although, I like food but I still maintain my healthy feeding habit. What has changed in your food in-take from the childhood to your adulthood? As a child, I eat what I was offered but as an adult, I look for what I want to eat. I make sure I eat quality food. I try to eat and exercise well. And that is my definition of food. Food is life.

Which of the aforementioned food can you prepare? I can prepare rice and stew, okro, vegetable, cream sauce amongst other foods. What is the staple food of the Fulanis? They are Tuo Masara, Mai kuka and Fura. So, how did you come into packaged food? It’s my love for giving gift to people that brought me into packaged food. It is a fast moving consumer goods that people want to eat because it's varieties of food made up of chocolate, biscuit amongst others. What is your choice of exercise? Boxing and I engage in it thrice a week. And I go to the Gym once a week. And your fruits?

At an exhibition organised to showcase what the company had in stock recently,the Director, Daddo Commodities, Mr. Ahmed Tukur said his company decided to bring Highland Fayre brand, a Scotland’s premier hamper company since 1985, to the market because of the need to offer high quality hamper to consumers. He said; “As a corporate organisation, there had been times when we found it difficult to get appreciative hampers to give to clients and friends during festive periods, which often forced to look in the way of Highland Fayre, which is an international brand, for quality and well packaged hampers. Having been doing this for years and getting satisfaction, we decided to talk to them so that we can make it available in West African markets. What we are witnessing today is the result of that relationship,” On the target market of the company, Tukur stated that what they brought to the market were in different sizes and different prizes, which made them appeal to various classes of the consumers. He also indicated that a similar exhibition would take place in Abuja in a couple of weeks. Earlier, the Managing Director of Highland Fayre, Mr. David England had expressed willingness to do business in Nigeria. He said, “No doubts, Nigeria maintains a promising population with sophisticated consumers, who will always wish to go for something good at a friendly price and this is what we have brought through Daddo Commodities. The Exhibition, which paraded hampers in various sizes attracted many prominent individuals from corporate, business and political communities. A former senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bode Olajumoke, who was one of the early callers at the venue, said he was particularly trilled by the price and quality of what were paraded.
