SUKKA —THE Nsukka Elders in Enugu State, yesterday, frowned at the sudden emergence of the Deputy Senate President, DSP, Chief Ike Ekweremadu’s posters for the 2015 governorship race, saying, it was the turn of Nsukka to produce the next governor of the state. The leaders said they were surprised that, Ekweremwdu would be nursing an ambition to govern the state even when his zone would have ruled for 16 years by 2015, when the incumbent Governor Sullivan Chime would hand over power after two terms of four years each. According to them, it was a mindless calculation ‘’for political jobbers in their warped imagination to craft the possibility of the governorship seat still remaining in the same old Enugu zone beyond 2015.

MUAHIA — THE Po lice in Rivers State said, yesterday, that they had unravelled the celebrated gang rape case which allegedly took place at Abia State University, ABSU, Uturu, noting that the incident actually took place at Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. The victim was also found to be a married person and that the suspects who subjected her to such dehumanising agony were her husband’s cousins. The incident, where four men in turns, raped a woman, was posted on social media and it was alleged to have taken place at ABSU. According to the Police, three of the suspects have been charged to Magistrate Court 9, Port Harcourt. The

information was contained in the Nigeria Police newspaper The Dawn of March 1124, 2013 edition. According to the report, detectives from Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department working on intelligence report on September 7, 2012, traced the husband of the victim whose name was given as Mr. S. from Obite town in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. The report said Mr. S. confirmed that the victim was his wife and that the perpetrators of the act were from his community. The report said “after painstakingly tracing the identity of the suspects, it led to their arrest and they are Uchenna Ukulor, Chizoba Nwosu and Nwazuo Nmezi, while the fourth

person is on the run.” The police was quoted as saying the suspects and husband of the victim were invited and the video clip was played for them which clearly established that three of them with another at large committed the crime.
