GHELLI—CHAIRMAN of Ughelli North Local Government Transition Committee, Delta State, Chief Friday Akpoyibo, has dissociated himself from recent media reports, calling for the sack of the Deport Manager, Warri Refinery, Engr Ali Abdallah, over alleged non-release of 50 trucks of kerosene to flood victims in the state. A group, Almagamation of Oil Producing Communities Youths, AOPCY, had in a media report, accused Engr Abdallah of not releasing 50 trucks of kerosene approved for flood victims in the state by Managing Director of Petroleum Products Marketing Company, PPMC. Describing the group as faceless and non-existent, Akpoyibo, said that the group has no power to shut down oil facilities in the state. “I was shocked and embarrassed with the said publication made by this faceless group. When I came back, I met with my other colleagues, who also confirmed that flood victims in their areas also needed kerosene as one of their pressing needs. “I wrote to PPMC in Abuja and my letter was approved by the Managing Director of PPMC and he sent an email and the approval letter to the Deport Manager, Warri Refinery, Engr Abdallah to release kerosene to flood victims in Delta."
