Buhari urges Kogites to vote for Audu ..as 9 PDP council chairmen defect to APC By Boluwaji Obahopo

L

OKOJA—PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari yesterday called on the people of Kogi State to join the change train and bring accelerated development to the state. Buhari stated this in Lokoja at the Grand Finale rally for APC governorship candidate in the Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state. The President, who was represented by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, admonished eligible voters to cast their votes for candidate of the APC, urging them to also wait behind until their votes were counted. National chairman of APC, John Oyegun, while presenting the candidate to the people, said Audu had been tested and could be trusted. Governor Adams Oshiomole of Edo State, however, referred to the PDP candidate, Governor Idris Wada, as a sleeping Captain in the cockpit of Kogi State government, adding that he was now ‘dead’ and only needed to be pulled out for Audu to take over on Saturday November 21. He lamented the non-payment of workers salary and percentage payment of local government workers’ salary, saying “If Edo State can pay its workers promptly, why would Kogi be unable to pay its own workers?” He likened the many negative happenings in Nigeria such as Ebola, Boko Haram, and insurgency as the making of PDP. “PDP brought Ebola but APC governor chased it away in Lagos,’’ Oshiomhole said. The governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, said he was seeking the peoples mandate to consolidate on his past achievements. Also, the PDP lost nine of the recently reinstated council chairmen and the former chairman of Dekina Local Government, Muhammed Ali, to the APC. The chairmen who were formally received at the grand finale include Akerejola Fimihan, Ogori/Magongo; Hassan

Okueyete, Okehi; Salihu Adaviruku, Adavi; Funsho Ibrahim, Yagba east, Major Musa, Idah; Megida Umar, Bassa; Aliyu Usman, Lokoja; Makonjuola, Yagba west and Dr. Remi Oduntola of Ijumu LGA. ....Buhari's absence: we’ve been justified The People Democratic Party,

PDP, has said that the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari, at the governorship grand finale rally of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had vindicated them on their earlier stand that the President rejected the candidature of the APC, Prince Abubakar Audu. The party in a statement signed by its state Publicity Secretary ,

Bode Ogunmola, which was issued in Lokoja yesterday, said the party had always known that President Buhari would not want to be associated with Prince Audu, given his tainted image. “PDP in Kogi State is now more re-assured of the determination of the APC-led federal government to fight corruption to a standstill," he said.

Lagos issues 26 day ultimatum to allotees of government schemes and hoodlums who constitute By Olasunkanmi Akoni

T

HE Lagos State Government has charged allottees of state lands, particularly those within Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki 1 and 2 and Abijo Residential Schemes, to take physical possession and develop the plots allocated to them on or before December 14, 2015. The Permanent Secretary, Lands Bureau, Mr. Bode Agoro, who gave the directive on behalf of the state government, stated that it (the directive) is in line with the policy thrust of the government in allocating lands to citizens in residential schemes which is to as-

sist them meet their desire of building houses of their own. Agoro affirmed that the terms and conditions as stated in the State Land Law, mandates allottees or holders of Right of Occupancy to fully develop their plots within two years of allocation, which he said, informed allocation of plots of lands on the schemes. He gave assurance that building approval for those that are ready to develop their plots or parcels of land in compliance with the directive would be treated with utmost dispatch and urged affected persons to act without delay. Agoro decried the unwholesome activities of miscreants

threats to lives and properties of residents in those areas, despite provision of infrastructure by the government, adding that government would not fold its arms and continue to watch innocent citizens suffer unduly. He however, advised the public to verify the status of any landed property before consummating transaction and also obtain information from the Office of the Surveyor-General as well as ensure proper validation of Titles from the State Land Registry. Agoro stated that such steps would also guard against practice whereby some individuals, families and communities engage in illegal sale of government acquired land.

EVERAL new sub scribers who joined Globacom’s network at its Laffta Fest show in Enugu last weekend said the increasingly popular comedy show was one of the things that attracted them to the network. They said this as the Glo Laffta Fest train arrived the South Eastern hub from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. The venue of the wave-making comedy show, witnessed an unprecedented crowd of Globacom subscribers who had waited for their turn to share the comic experience. When it became apparent that the show was organized exclusively for Globacom subscribers, potential subscribers who did not want to miss the fun, quickly switched their lines to the Globacom network. Some made outright purchase of new Glo lines, registered and loaded the mandatory airtime to access into the show. Globacom subscribers were full of praises for the company for bringing the show to Enugu.
