BEOKUTA — FORMER governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the immediate past governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, weekend, disagreed over the level of performance by the Ibikunle Amosun-led administration in Ogun State. Tinubu, who fired the first salvo at the installation of the interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Bisi Akande as Baba-Oba of Imoru-Ijebu by Oba Munirudeen Adeposi Bashorun claimed that Ogun State in the past was on the wrong side of politics. Tinubu said: "Once upon a time, Ogun

State was on the wrongful corner of politics, in the opposition, but as we continue to develop and demolish various illegal structures across the country, so is the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, destroying democratic structures. "Ijebu-Ode is already a giant construction site with the dualisation of roads going on and the overhead bridge. Thank you, Governor Amosun for your dedication and commitment to duty which made the transformation possible." Reacting to Tinubu's claims, Daniel said whatever achievement Tinubu was laying claim to for his eight years in office in Lagos with huge resources available could not be compared to his achievement with small resources available to Ogun State. Daniel, who spoke through his media aide, Steve Oliyide, said: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu does not have the moral standing to give a fair assessment on the political and economic administration under Otunba Gbenga Daniel, especially if you look at his own achievement in Lagos and succeeding Amosun in Ogun State which Tinubu is the sole progenitor. “Tinubu's achievements in eight years in terms of cost and values and huge money in Lagos cannot be compared to OGD’s achievements. Tinubu served himself rather than the people of Lagos State.” Meanwhile, Tinubu has said that the party would not relent in its struggle to rescue Nigeria from "the cruel and rudderless" administration of the PDP-controlled Federal

Government. He said the struggle to rescue Nigeria had been on for a long time since he was alone in the struggle, expressing delight that no fewer than 16 progressive

governors had joined hands with him in the crusade for a better Nigeria. Commending APC government in the Southwest and other party of the country, Tinubu

Professor Mimiko said: "Our duty here this afternoon is to simply unveil a name that the University Council had graciously approved, several months ago, to give to this edifice that has just been delivered. “This is our little way of demonstrating how much belief we have in the life and times of a very great man, Nelson Mandela."

The embattled members of the executive also shunned the reconciliation meeting called by the governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko to reconcile them with the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and his loyalists who have just joined the party. The party state executive led by Olabode Simeon had expelled Gbenga Daniel for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities. To worsen the situation, the party also announced a serving member of the House of Representatives, Abiodun Akinlade as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming 2015 general elections. But in his reaction, Daniel described his purported suspension as inapplicable, saying, he was still being persuaded and lobbied to join Labour Party in Ogun State and provide effective organisation/ leadership accordingly. Daniel said this in a statement by former Steel miniter, Tunji Ishola, ex-governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, Gboyega Isiaka and former I n f o r m a t i o n Commissioner, Sina Kawonise. Vanguard gathered that, Mimiko conveyed the meeting scheduled to hold in Ondo State, to resolve the logjam in the

party in the state, but was boycotted by the Chairman, Olabode Simeon, the Secretary, Sunday Ogini, the financial Secretary, Bayo Arabanbi, among others. Speaking from their hide-out, the state secretary of the party, Ogini told Vanguard that they decided to go into hiding after they announced the party gubernatorial candidate in the state because of the security report which he said, did not favour them.
