NUGU—THE All Progressives Grand Alliance,APGA,Enugu State Chapter, yesterday, threw its weight behind the setting up of Caretaker Committees to administer the running of 17 council areas in the state as approved by political stakeholders for Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi. Ugwuanyi had last Saturday, at the expanded meeting of stakeholders held at the Old Government Lodge, cited the ongoing local government staff audit and the inadequate provision of funds in the 2015 budget for thev council poll as the problem even as he noted that the little appropriated for it is grossly and manifestly inadequate which he pledgeded to address in the 2016 budget to enable elections hold. But while being in government with the approval given to the governor by the stakeholders, the immediate past State Chairman of APGA,Enugu State Chapter, Mr. Okechukwu Nkolagu explained that,”APGA adopted Governor Ugwuanyi as its candidate in the last general

MUAHIA—THE Catholic Diocese of Umuahia, Abia State, has disowned the group, Catholic Network of Nigeria [CNN], which last week, held a protest at Bende and demanded that the Justices of Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri be changed, saying that such group does not exist in the Diocese. Disassociating itself from the action of the group, Umuahia Catholic Diocese also said that it did not know the coordinator of the disowned group, Catechist

Ambrose Udensi and that the protest did not take place at the Corpus Christi Parish, Bende. It also said that it is not partisan and does not involve itself in any partisan political activity. Meanwhile, Mr. Ugochukwu Emezue, the Special Adviser to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on Media, has called on the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressive Grand Alliance {APGA} to stop distracting the Justices of the Appeal Court and allow them to do their job. Emezue alleged that the party has “raised many ficticious

groups to distract the Judges”, warning that “they should not ambush the Appeal Court Judges”. He also called on the groups being used to think twice as they are not helping democracy to grow by not allowing justice to flow. The Catholic Diocese of Umuahia in a statement issued by Wednesday, Church and Society department of the Diocese categorically disowned the Catholic Network of Nigeria [CNN], saying that it does not exist in the Diocese.

wonder how they want to govern the state when they cannot stand as on. However, whichever way it may be people will still talk against it. Nigeria is too big for all this. If it comes good people talk, the other way round people will still talk. Miss Jennifer Edimeh, Self Employed

here is no crisis in APC; it is only Igala people that are disturbing because of their stinginess. Over 19 years they have been ruling the state no any other tribes disturbed them, now that other tribe have the chance they are disturbing. Mr Salihu Muhammed, Businessman

noted that the PresidentGeneral of ATDU had insisted on going ahead with the exercise, despite protests from a substantial section of the community. The statement therefore advised that the election be suspended until the needful is done and the usual lawful steps in conducting town union elections in the state are observed. When contacted on phone, Chief Enemuo, the ATDU boss declined comments. But in his reaction to the situation, an Igweship aspirant in the area, Ichie Emmanuel Chukwuma, told newsmen in an interview that Enemuo and his followers are not telling the community the truth about the situation of things, rather, they kept threatening any one who dares say the truth, adding that they would not like to continue with such an ugly development because according to him, “we want to progress not retrogress.” Chukwuma noted that "Enemuo and his group are not only thwarting the rules of Igweship and town union elections by failing to pay the mandatory N100,000 election fee to the state government as required by law, but also do not have the powers to conduct Igweship election because the case is already in court."
