The Story of Disneyland
The Golden Horseshoe Review actually debuted four days before Disneyland did; the first show was at Walt & Lilian’s 30th wedding anniversary party, held at the soon to be opened park on July 13, 1955. That first performance went off without a hitch (including a moment when a tipsy Walt climbed over the rail of his private box and down to the stage!), and was followed up with a record 47,250 performances. Wally Boag led the show as Pecos Bill from the beginning, but in 1956 was joined by Betty Taylor, who took over and owned the role of Sluefoot Sue for the next three decades.
