Souvenirs of Disneyland

145. The Patty Asker Nickel Tour Postcard Collection. In 1995, Bruce Gordon and David Mumford self-published one of the most definitive books on Disneyland History ever made. Tracing fifty years of Disney History through the postcards sold in the park, with their revised edition published in 2000, they created a visual history that is unequaled. With the help of collectors Roger Le Roque and Nick Farago, they compiled a list of every postcard known to be produced for the park. This set belonged to collector Patty Asker, who set out to collect every postcard listed in the book; approximately 1,514 of them. Offered here is Patty Asker’s collection of postcards based on both editions of the Nickel Tour books. With a total of 1,458 cards, this is the most complete collection of Disneyland postcards ever offered for sale. The collection includes the most rare cards produced for the park, including an unused Sleeping Beauty Castle record card. This card is Nickel Tour #1175, and is the only one we have ever seen. Additionally, the rare “Puzzle Postcards”, Nickel Tour #602a-602c, and the ultra-rare “Silver Banjo Card” from Don DeFore’s Silver Banjo Restaurant, Nickel Tour #1120b, are also included. This collection represents 30 years of research, persistence, and passion, and is an amazing feat of collecting that would be almost impossible to duplicate today. Signed editions of both Nickel Tour books are also included in this lot. $60,000-$70,000 36
