Aunt Jemima's Kitchen Sponsored by Quaker Oats, Frontierland’s iconic “Aunt Jemima’s Kitchen” opened in 1955 and offered a great selection of pancakes, waffles, and breakfast meats. Keeping to Walt’s philosophy that each aspect of the park should entertain as well as serve a function, until the late 1960s, actress Aylene Lewis portrayed the friendly “Aunt Jemima” and would interact with and sing for Disneyland guests. Between 1961 and 1962, the restaurant expanded and continued to operate for 8 additional years before closing in 1970. Many original items from the Kitchen feature the “Aunt Jemima” logo on them, and surviving examples are a reminder of one of Disneyland’s most unique restaurants.
