Disneyland Maps A conceptual map of what would become Disneyland was one of the first things Walt had his artists create in order to help him secure financing to build his park. After the park opened, early handouts would feature small stylized renditions of the park to help guests navigate to their destinations. However, nothing has captured the charm of the park quite like the early Disneyland souvenir maps. The original map was released in 1958 and was drawn by Imagineer Sam McKim. As the park evolved, so did the maps, and different series and versions were created to keep them up to date. Today, these early souvenir Disneyland maps are collected both for their artistic appeal, as well as the slice of Disneyland history they represent.
