Lot 32. Bruce Springsteen’s Signed American Original ‘50s Fender Telecaster. Bruce Springsteen’s Fender Butterscotch Blonde American Original ‘50s Telecaster. After Springsteen retired his famous 1953-54 hybrid Telecaster from the road due to four decades of tour and studio wear and tear, he began playing clones of his signature instrument. This American Original ‘50s Telecaster replicates all the most sought after features of the early Telecasters with some contemporary quality of life upgrades. Constructed with an ash body, nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and a U-shaped maple neck and maple fretboard, the guitar is equipped with two period-correct Pure Vintage ’52 Single Coil Tele pickups, featuring enamel coated coil wire, cloth-covered output wires, fiber bobbins, and alnico III magnets. Unlike the 70-year old models, the American Original Tele offers pick-up switching via the three-position blade shifter. Manufactured in 2020, the guitar is stamped on the ashtray bridge with the serial number “V2092391.” Springsteen has boldly signed the body of the guitar in black felt pen, “Bruce Springsteen” and added a quartet of hand-drawn musical notes. The guitar exhibits some minor surface wear from use.
