HEALTH Health Care Assistant, Certificate

Grade 12. English 12*. Personal profile. Interview. BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry’s minimum English language competency requirement. English competency selfdeclaration form.

Hospital Unit Coordinator, Certificate

Grade 12, or Assessments in Hospital Unit Coordinator Math and English. OSME 002: Medical Terminology and Anatomy & Physiology within the last 5 years. Introduction to Computers within the past 2 years or equivalent course. 50 cwpm.

Medical Device Reprocessing Technician, Certificate

Grade 12. English 12* min. C. Completion of Medical Terminology Anatomy & Physiology and Interpersonal Skills for Healthcare Workers.

Dental Assistant, Certificate

Grade 12. English 12* min. C Biology 12 min. C. Good health. 20/20 vision with correction required.

Dental Hygiene, Diploma

Grade 12. English 12* min. C. Post-secondary coursework equivalent to 34 credits of: VIU Degree English Requirement; BIOL 151/152/153/154 or BIOL 156/157; CHEM 140/141 or CHEM 140/142; PSYC 111/112 or PSYC 121/122 or PSYC 131/132; MATH 211 or MATH 161; and any 100 or 200 level PostSecondary course without a T or G suffix. Biology and Chemistry must have been completed within the last 5 years. Personal profile.

Practical Nursing, Diploma

Grade 12. English 12* min. C+ or Technical Professional Communications 12 with a B+. Min. C in one of: Principles of Math 11 or Foundations of Math 11. Biology 12 min. C. HHPN 001: Human Anatomy and Physiology for Practical Nurses min. C+. Proof of WHMIS, CPR level C, and immunization requirements.

Nursing, Bachelor of Science in

Grade 12. English 12* min. C+. Chemistry 11, Biology 12 min C+. Min. C+ in one of: Principles of Math 11, Pre-Calculus 11 or Foundations of Math 12. Proof of WHMIS and CPR level C and immunization requirements.

24-week Certificate program Become a caregiver in complex care facilities and extended care units, home support agencies and residential settings.

8-month part-time Certificate program The purpose of this program is to prepare the individual for employment as a Hospital Unit Coordinator in a variety of health care settings. It will provide knowledge and training in the medical field including topics such as medical terminology, pharmacology, communications and coordinating physicians’ orders. 12-week full-time Certificate program Students gain theory and application of principles related to decontamination, sterilization, storage and distribution of equipment in a medical device reprocessing area. The program is intended for those who desire to play a critical role in health care and work as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment. 10-month Certificate program Provides opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and values necessary to be a member of the dental team. Graduates who successfully pass the National Board exam are eligible to apply for registration and licensure with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA – Level II). 2-year Diploma program Provides education in the application of preventative and therapeutic methods of oral disease control and oral health promotion. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration and licensure with the College of Dental Hygienists of BC.

2-year Diploma program Learn skills to practice as a Practical Nurse (PN) in acute, extended, intermediate and community care settings.

4-year Degree program Preparation for accreditation through the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC) and employment as a Registered Nurse (RN).
