Normally this section is reserved for Canadians alums who have gone on to appear in the big leagues, but we’re making an exception this week to highlight the mind-boggling success Addison Barger has had in Double-A since his promotion on July 11.
ADDISON BARGER After leading the Canadians in nearly every offensive category through the first three months of the season and with his name still on the Northwest League leaderboard three weeks after graduating from the circuit, Barger has somehow gotten even better since make it to the upper Minors. As of July 31, he’s slashing .455/.516/.745/.1.261 with four doubles, four homers, 11 runs scored and nine RBI in 15 games while averaging one
walk for every two strikeouts. The Everett, WA native had a hit in nine of his last ten games as of this writing, including a fourhit showing on July 30 at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton, NY. Barger, 22, was Toronto’s sixth-round pick (176th overall) in 2018 out of King High School in Tampa, FL. He owns a career .266 batting average in 892 Minor League at-bat over four seasons.
