The former guardians of Croatian towns, nowadays have become magnificent witnesses of past times, as these walls and fortresses conceal secrets and historic tales. Knin fortress, one of the largest fortifying constructions in Dalmatia, has encompassing walls that extend to almost two kilometres in length and up to twenty metres high. No less impressive is the Klis fortress located on the mountain pass between Kozjak and Mosor that played a significant role during the war with the Turks, serving as a camp for Petar Kružić and his Uskoci soldiers. Experience the richness of history by visiting the Fortress of St. Mihovil raised in stone rock seventy metres above sea level and the so-called jewel of the Adriatic, the town of Šibenik, which can be seen from above. Feel safe in the embrace of the Ston city wall, which is proudly referred to by the locals as the European Chinese wall due to its length, as you understand that every one of these mighty constructions continues to conceal a heart of a gentle guardian.
