Be mindful of vintage clothes sizing

Be Mindful of Vintage Clothes Sizing Clothing from throughout the past century is considered genuine vintage garments. This features elegant, often glamorous designs that are bound to make anyone look like a classic Hollywood star, regardless if you choose to wear such clothing at your own wedding, at a party, or at the office. Get the right size Even if some vintage style clothing has the size written out on the label, vintage measurements seldom correspond to today’s sizes. The only way to address this issue is to determine your exact body measurements (bust, shoulders, waist, hips and length) prior to ordering.

In order to determine the size of your bust, you will have to measure your chest circumference. Simply wrap a soft tape measure around your shoulder blade and under your armpits, so that it goes over the fullest part of your bust. Write down the measurement. Next, measure your shoulders from end to end, or ask someone to help you do this. Then, go down to the waist, and wrap the tape measure below your rib cage, just above your belly button.

Finally, to get the circumference of your hips, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your rear. Now that you’ve got all of your exact measurements, it’s time to check the online size table and compare them against the measurements of your preferred vintage clothes. You may not always find the garment you want in your exact measurements, so consider taking it to your seamstress to have it altered.
