COACHES The VAFA is a great place to play but is also very attractive for coaches. Eight more with AFL playing experience have taken up clipboards at VAFA clubs for 2012. They are:

Dean Anderson – former Hawk and Saint, Caulfield Grammarian and Big V coach is cocoach at Old Scotch.

Nathan Brown – Demon and former Old Scotch player is at Old Melburnians.

Frank Dunell – former Bomber and Bear player and St Bernard’s and NOBs coach heads to the Oggers.

Mick Dwyer – former Fitzroy, St Kilda player and Old Haileybury and Big V U23 mentor is at St Bede’s/ Mentone Tigers.

Daniel Harford – the erstwhile Hawk, Blue and Paradian takes over St Kevin’s.

Michael Pickering – Tiger, Demon player and Nodder assistant will lead the Royboys.

Ian Rickman – one time Scragger takes the reins at Williamstown CYMS.

Fergus Watts – the former Adelaide, St Kilda and Collegian takes over at Uni Blues, replacing John Kanis, who was at the helm for eight seasons.

Another eight coaches with AFL playing experience return for another season with their clubs, namely: Ian Aitken (Kew), Simon Arnott (Collegians), Trent Cummings (PEGS), Andy Gowers (Old Xavs), Steven Lawrence (Caulfield Grammarians), Steve McPherson (Marcellin), Jason Mifsud (Beaumaris) and Tim Powell (Monash Blues) 38
