Process Management • Assist in operating the furnace, ensures raw material feed to furnace feed bunkers, and stokes the furnace to ensure melting of raw materials. • Removes slag when required. • Taps the furnace and granulates/atomises the hot metal. • Operates the drier to dry the final product. • Operates overhead cranes to move hot metal ladles and dried product bins and raw materials to allocated areas. • Takes samples of hot metal and dried products for quality control and logs onto the Sample Manager programme. • Logs all maintenance notifications on the JDE system. • Generates Isolation/Work Permits for maintenance and relevant personnel, contractors and visitors. • Applies housekeeping standards on shifts in dedicated areas. • Completes daily inspection lists on overhead cranes and other mobile equipment such as forklifts and front-end loaders. • Captures all information required by the Suite Voyager system electronically and in the log book, e.g. consumption, quality, water, and power. • Operates forklift to move consumables and final product to designated areas. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • No supervisory responsibility. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
