MSc Strength and Conditioning The academic and applied coaching expertise within the discipline of Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage within the Cardiff School of Sport offers an MSc in Strength and Conditioning. The world class sports facilities, applied focus of producing the strength and conditioning coaches of tomorrow and unique Internship Module makes it an attractive academic experience for practitioners, sports specific coaches, personal trainers and other fitness industry professions. Key Features: The flexible programme is centred on research-informed, applied professional practice and adopts a student-centred approach to develop understanding of the ‘science and application’, and ‘theory to practice’ requirements in strength and conditioning through existing staff and a range of current industry based professionals. Current Students: Students on the MSc Strength and Conditioning currently come from: Bristol Rugby; Harlequins Rugby; The English Institute of Sport; Bristol Rovers FC; Scarlets RFC; and Leicester Tigers. Career Potential: Graduates of the programme are able to study research degrees (MPhil/PhD) within the subject area. Other graduate opportunities are working as professional Strength and Conditioning Coaches within the Home Country Sports Institutes, professional sports teams, fitness and training industry, and lecturers (further and higher education). Modules: The programme’s core module structure requires attendance at the university on a Monday only, permitting day-release and graduate employment opportunities with further study. The programme permits full-time or part-time study over a flexible period that can fit in around existing jobs or Internships. Option modules allow the student to progress a more applied option to a theoretical area of their choice alongside their core strength and conditioning programme.
