Most Improved

Why is Houston ASDA the Ideal ASDA? UTSD Houston ASDA models itself with pride and integrity following the key values represented in the ASDA Mission Statement. We believe firmly that getting students excited and involved with ASDA begins on day one of dental school. We find ways to welcome our students and introduce them to their ASDA benefits and what it means to be an ASDA member. We take this a step further and embody the statement to “introduce students to lifelong involvement in organized dentistry” by encouraging students to apply for leadership positions on both a local and national level. We have done our best to find a spot for any student looking to get involved and learn more about ASDA. With their commitment our chapter has flourished with activities where all students have been able to partake upon. We hope to use this application to highlight the excitement our chapter has and the ASDA fever that has spread at Houston. Here are some of the highlights of the events that showcase how much our chapter has grown and improved in this past year.

Throughout the past three years I have seen our chapter grow and expand in ways that are truly remarkable. Our leadership team represents 72 students who are committed to getting others involved in organized dentistry. Their passion is invigorating, inspiring, and has helped our chapter reach new heights. Throughout our application we encourage you to join us on a “road trip” where we reflect back on many of the events that we accomplished this year. We make many stops from our Advocacy Courthouse to the Predental LifeCenter. For us a road trip is a unique way to reflect back on a year-long journey that has taken us to new places.

ASDA FEVERARD!! AW

nlc 2016

UTSD HOUSTON

Winning the ASDA Fever award was, as cliche as

old ones. It’s hard to grasp the extent of

it may sound, an honor and a privilege. Without

national ASDA when you’re just sitting at a lunch

it and the funding it provided, I may have never

and learn, but attending NLC made me feel like I

had the opportunity to go to NLC, to travel, to

was a part of something bigger, a greater

learn, to build new relationships and to grow

community.

As our trip comes to a close, we spent a great amount of time at the Predent Life Center. Houston ASDA’s interest in the predental students is nothing like we've ever seen before! We hung out at interview day, explore USTD day, participated in dental activities, filmed a predent video, and checked out the all new Impressions day— it sure left a lasting impression on us! 37
