Volunteer Assistant Coach | First Season UTSA, ‘13 Former UTSA baseball player Rodney Garza joins the Roadrunners coaching staff as a volunteer assistant for the 2016 season. Head baseball coach Jason Marshall announced the addition of Garza in September 2015. “We are excited to have Rodney back in the program at UTSA,” Marshall said. “He played a significant role for us in our 2013 WAC Championship season and was undoubtedly a player that could lead not only with his actions but his words. I have no doubt that Coach Garza will be an asset for UTSA baseball once again.” Garza, a native of Magnolia, was a two-year letter winner for the Roadrunners after transferring from Paris Junior College. In his final season, he saw action in 37 games and registered 29 hits with 18 runs scored. Garza also was recognized on the league’s all-academic team. The former Roadrunner graduated in 2013 and had been coaching at Davis High School in Houston’s Aldine Independent School District.
