UTSA FOOTBALL has drawn more than 1.2 million fans to home games in its eight-year history

CHAMPIONS OVERCOME While UTSA boasts its Points of Pride across multiple sports programs, UTSA’s current student-athletes are faced with aging facilities that do not adequately meet their needs. These facilities cannot compete against other Division I Institutions, demanding that our students overcome unnecessary obstacles to remain competitive. As UTSA positions itself to compete at the highest level, recruitment efforts are key. Recruiting high caliber studentathletes, who are equally talented in the classroom as they are on the field or court, is foundational to building a strong sports program. With your support, the Roadrunner Athletics Center of Excellence (RACE) will enhance programming related to academic support, training, health, safety, and wellness, with dedicated spaces for sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and nutrition.

ESTABLISHING A COMPETITIVE FACILITY WILL PLAY A CRITICAL ROLE FOR STUDENTATHLETE SUCCESS IN A HIGHLY COMPETITIVE NCAA DIVISION I SPORTS PROGRAM.

The RACE lobby will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and a future Hall of Fame to honor those who have made a lasting impact on UTSA Athletics, inspiring current Roadrunners to strive for greatness.

ACADEMIC SPACES Nearly 6,000 square feet of academic space will facilitate seamless transitions between academic and athletic activities. A 1,000 square-foot study hall, 10 private tutoring rooms, a 30-station computer lab, and office space for athletics academic services staff will ensure that academic success remains a priority for our student-athletes. SPORTS MEDICINE CENTER A Sports Medicine Center will feature treatment areas, an exam room, a recovery room, and office space for trainers and physicians. It will also include an enclosed hydrotherapy room featuring state-ofthe-art aquatic therapy equipment for rehabilitation. The space will feature floor-to-ceiling windows and direct access to the practice fields.

FOOTBALL FACILITIES RACE will provide UTSA’s football team and coaches with state-of-the-art facilities on par with other top football programs. The facility will enable the head coach and staff to occupy office space in the same building used for other team functions, organizing all football activities under one roof. PRACTICE FIELDS RACE will feature two parallel football practice fields: one synthetic turf field covered by a pavilion and one open air field with natural grass. The covered field is designed for eventual enclosure with plans for lighting and air conditioning. LOCKER ROOM The 8,150 square-foot locker room will include 120 lockers, a players’ lounge, and barber shop.
