La figura humana es representada ámpliamente en la gráfica imbabureña. Desde las clásicas esculturas con materiales nobles en lugares preminentes del espacio urbano, hasta los rótulos publicitarios más actuales, pasando por vitrales policromos, pinturas religiosas, tallas en madera o murales y neones. Encontraremos indígenas guerreros, incas hieráticos, adoradores del sol, personajes mitológicos, ayahumas imponentes, héroes libertadores, militares imbatidos, músicos andinos, calaveras aterradoras, jovenes heroicos, obreros laboriosos, profesionales impecables, secretarias eficientes, chicas seductoras, camareros sonrientes, viejecitas encantadoras, brujas malvadas, chefs bigotudos, bebedores empedernidos, valientes bomberos, policías fornidos, pintores aplicados, querubines rosados, arcángeles implacables, familias unidas, vírgenes impolutas, ángeles aniñados, líderes revolucionarios, políticos antiguos, cheguevaras cocineros, actores televisivos, personajes de cómic y dibujos animados... Sobre ello podemos hacer un par de consideraciones. Una, de género: mientras la figura masculina aparece casi siempre en posiciones heroicas, serias o trascendentes, la femenina suele ser representada desnuda, o con finas telas pegadas al cuerpo, con pocas excepciones salvo, claro está, las representaciones religiosas. Y la otra, étnica: la gran mayoría de representaciones humanas coresponden a las étnias blanca y mestiza, y en menor medida a la indígena, mientras que las representaciones de afroecuatorianos son casi inexistentes.

We will find indigenous warriors, hieratic Incas, sun worshippers, mythological characters, imposing ayahumas, liberators and heroes, unbeaten militaries, Andean musicians, frightening skulls, heroic youth, hardworking workers, impeccable professionals, efficient secretaries, seductive girls, smiling waiters, charming old ladies, evil witches, bewhiskered chefs, inveterate drunkards, brave firefighters, well-built policemen, diligent painters, pink cherubs, relentless archangels, united families, pristine virgins, infantile angels, revolutionary leaders, former politicians, Che-Guevara chefs, television actors, comic characters and cartoons... On this topic we can make some assumptions. One, of gender: while the male figure appears almost always heroic, serious or important, the female tends to be represented as naked, or with fine fabrics attached to the body, with a few exceptions; of course, it is the case of the religious representations. And the other one, ethnic: the vast majority of human representations correspond to the white and mestizo ethnic groups, and a minority to the indigenous, while the Afro-Ecuadorian representations are almost non-existent.

La presencia de las formas vegetales en la gráfica zonal es constante. Quizás por lo imponente de la naturaleza en este país o por su importancia en la cosmovisión andina, encontramos representaciones de vegetales en todos los materiales y técnicas posibles: piedra, yeso, madera, hierro, cerámica, pinturas, murales, grabados sobre vidrio, cristales, rótulos, etc.. Flores, frutos, árboles, plantas, hojas.... las formas orgánicas vegetales han gustado y gustan a los «grafistas» imbabureños que las han usado profusamente en sus creaciones a lo largo del tiempo. Del puro cacao a las flores esplendorosas, de las dulces uvas a los picantes ajís, pasando por el omnipresente maíz en sus múltiples presentaciones y denominaciones.
Plant figures presence in the zonal graph is consistent. Perhaps by an imposing nature in this country or because of their importance in the Andean world view, we find plant representations in all materials and techniques: stone, gypsum, wood, iron, ceramics, paintings, murals, prints on glass, crystals, banners, etc... Flowers, fruit, trees, plants, leaves... the vegetable organic forms have been the preferred ones for Imbabureño «graphic designers», who have extensively used them in their creations through time. Including pure cocoa, splendid flowers, sweet grapes and also spicy chili pepper, the omnipresent corn in its multiple shapes and denominations.
