5 STAR HOTEL

It was in the early times that people just needed a shelter. Buildings and Architecture around us are transforming since then and people now demand for advanced and exquisite buildings. Even in Indian context they desire world class amenities with value added services. And when It comes to Accommodation spaces like Hotels, the demand and expectations get even higher.

This design proposal was aimed at creating a landmark 5 star hotel keeping the climatology of site into consideration. The design is proposed in Pragati maidan, New Delhi which is a venue for large exhibitions and conventions in the city. It has an area of nearly 150 acres of exhibition space, being among the biggest exhibition centers in the whole country. The site already attracts world class tourists and accomodation for them must be up to that world class standard.

SITE CONTEXT

The Site is located on Gate no. 1, Bhairon marg, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Delhi 110001. The South of the Site has 45m wide ROW Bhairon marg and Mathura Road to its West. The hotel site is towards the South- east side of Pragati maidan Precinct on the Bhairon marg road. The 123.51-acre large complex is a venue for large national & international exhibitions & conventions.

The primary development of the concept depends on the climate of the precinct and also the basic three areas of the hotel which are FOH, BOH and guest areas. Along with the Proper zoning of these on the site several other factors such as building functionality,

FORM DEVELOPMENT

Initial massing on the site.

Allocating areas on different floors and incorporating them in the mass.

Orienting the developed mass to capture wind and avoid harsh sun to save energy.

Final form on site which has the open side facing towards pragati maidan while other face covering the SE side which lies towards main entrance.

MIXED-USE BUILDING

B.Arch

A mixed-use building aims to combine three or more uses into one structure such as residential, hotel, retail, parking, transportation, cultural, and entertainment Whatever the combination, it brings together several uses within either one building or a small area. The two most common forms of mixed-use design can be seen as a single, multi-story building, a typical mix places apartments on the upper levels and retail or offices at street level. A basement level provides parking and/or access to underground public transportation.

Rapid growth in urban centers continues to spur planners to create new solutions in India. Mixeduse buildings being one of the most preferred solution . The mixed-use building not only sustainably utilizes resources and precious space, but also provides city inhabitants with neighborhoods that integrate work, home, shopping, transportation, and even green spaces

FORM DEVELOPMENT

-Orienting The Bulding in a way to block the harsh sunlight from the south side of the precinct.

-Placing the Office block towards northwest, furthest away from the road and noise.

-Keeping the hotel and office building faces to capture south-east and northwest wind which is prominent on the site.

-Giving a linear shape to the office block to enable enough sunlight in the building.

-Providing enough openings for light and ventilation and water bodies with nature for healty and lively environment.

EXTERIOR VISUALISATION I OFFICE BUILDING

Inspired from the Al Bahr tower, the facade panels are of polytetreafluroethylene (PTFE) material which is a translucent material that filters the natural light and decreases its harsh intensity and building’s heat gain. The kinetic facade panels open and close with the respect to sun’s intensity on site during different weather conditions. The use of this facade provides nore natural view along with minimum use of artificial ight during the day that helps in creating a healty working environment for the the employees in office block.

Group Housing

Group Housing project is amalgamation of different buildings constructed with multiple floors which have more than one dwelling unit on every floor sharing the common service facilities. To accommodate a larger section of people in a particular area, Group Housing Concept projects are developed so that the demand for housing can be met for all group of people. It gives you the luxury of living in an independent home, it takes away the comforts of being independent.

Located in Bhartal village, Dwarka, New Delhi this Project under DDA was proposed for meeting the housing needs of people randing from higher to lower income groups. The precinct consisted of 6 types of towers. 5 Hectare area was provided for site where total of 26 towers were proposed with other essential facilities like park, retail, community hall, school, etc.

Senior Secondary School

B.Arch

5th Sem

Senior Secondary Schhol was a project located in Bhartal Village, Dwarka, sector 26, New Delhi. The project was proposed to provide education facilities for the students residing in nearby areas that consisted of newly constructed DDA Flats and group housing projects. The site was away from the the city in a pollution-free area. The site was very appropriate for a senior sec. school as it offered optimal condition and environment for study being far from town in a low pollution area.

The school was to be designed for student starting from 1 to 10+2. This meant that school had to adhere to all the requirements as mentioned by CBSE. The school had to provide all the nessesary facilities for its students. Facilities like Library, Gymnasium, Auditorium, Science labs, Computer Lab, etc were to be provided in the school.

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

Initial massing on the site further away from the 60 m wide road to reduce noise and pollution.

Separating the study block and the noise by placing admin block and open area with greenry in between creating a better overall study environment.

Providing opening for proper flow of wind inside the building.

Orienting the auditorium in a such a way that it blocks direct sun with allowance of solar panels also directing the wind inside the building.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to work as an intern at “Architecture plus design lab”. The principal architect of the firm, Ar. Ankit Berry is highly knowledgeable, professional, pays special attention to every design detail and is well established in the field. The work that is delivered by the team is very creative and responds directly to the client’s needs. They expected the same quality of work for me and handed me with several responsibilities that helped me grow as an Architect and as an individual.

Internship Works

At- Archfy’

Role- 3D Modeling, Rendering, Visualisation, Post Production

Typology- Residential, Office, Retail

I had a wonderful opportunity to work with a very inspiring architect when I was in my 3rd year. I got to learn a lot from him and my colleagues during my time with them. I got to work on several projects including residential projects, Retail projects, Office, etc. I was involved mostly in 3d rendering and post production work but I also got to take up some plans and 3d modeling along with visualisation. It was a great experience and learning phase for me.

After my Internship at Archfy’, I took up some freelancing projects from clients. I got to work on residential plan and 3D, terrace garden designs, interior designs, etc. I got to learn working on my own delivering my work in time with best efforts all by myself. Interacted and worked with clients directly, understanding their needs and requirements and providing final result as per the expectations. I worked as a freelancer to quite few times where I also got works related to graphics design for other architecture students in Bachelors and even at Masters level.

Graphics Designing

Role- Graphics Designer, Post production, Visualisation

I also took up some graphics designing work from clients as I have a very keen interest in it. While working as an Architectural student I realised the importance of creating visuals that send the intended message to the target audience. Just like any verbal language, Graphics designing is the language used by us designers to convey or message and communicate with others though the means of visuals. Coming to this realisation, compelled me to taking graphics designing courses on my own and learning it in more details through online platforms and finally taking up freelance works in this field.
