SERVE YOUR SPOUSE DIVORCE PAPERS IN UTAH File a Petition for Divorce with the Court You should keep the original documents, and your spouse should be served with copies of the following documents: • Copy of Complaint • Copy of Court Summons • Copy of Temporary Orders

Papers must be served to the other party within 120 days of the filing of the petition.

Once the spouse is served, he or she has 21 days after they were served in Utah or 30 days if served outside of the state to “answer.”
