DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL SERVICES RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE - MARCIA TAYLOR INTERNATIONAL SERVICES DIRECTOR
Marcia Taylor, Director of International Services, received one of the NAFSA Association of International Educators’ most prestigious awards in 2020. The NAFSA Knowledge Community for International Student and Scholar Services “KC ISSS” Award recognizes a member of the international education community who has demonstrated outstanding qualities as a leader in the field of international student and scholar services. In her role at USF, Marcia Taylor is the Primary Designated Official (PDSO) for the university’s F-1 student program, the Responsible Officer (RO) for the university’s J-1 exchange program, and a key advisor to university staff regarding employment based visas and permanent residency. She has worked in the field of international education for 25 years. As a member-leader with NAFSA, Marcia has served as the Florida Association of International Educators Treasurer, the Florida Association of International Educators Chair, Region VII representative to Academy II, Region VII Coach for Academy IV, Region VII Florida State Representative, and Region VII Chair. In addition to her contribution to the field of international education, Marcia served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Botswana teaching Mathematics at the secondary school level.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS SCHOLARSHIP In 2021, Ms. Dariya Alibi, an undergraduate at USF, was awarded a prestigious Florida Association of International Educators (FAIE) Study Florida scholarship. FAIE’s key objective is to promote international educational exchange in the State of Florida by providing a platform for communication and networking to foster greater understanding and enhancement of the field of international education. For the 2021-22 academic year, FAIE partnered with Study Florida, a not-for-profit professional association, to support scholarships for international students pursuing higher education at a college or university in Florida. Alibi, an international student from Kazakhstan, is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science at USF.
