Dave Ivy is an 18-year USF veteran coach, having joined the program as outside linebacker coach in 1998 after coaching four years at the high school level in the Fort Wayne area. Ivy brings more than 31 years of coaching experience to the Cougar staff. Ivy, a native of Fort Wayne, Ind., played his prep football at Northrop High School and is a 1979 NHS graduate. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Northwood Middle School, before being named head coach. In 1992, he accepted the defensive coordinator position at Elmhurst High School and in 1995 was the defensive line coach at Snider High School. He continues to serve as an assistant track and field coach at South Side High School. Ivy took on additional duties as equipment manager for the Cougars in 2008 and continues to serve in that capacity. He received a bachelor’s degree from IPFW in 1991. He currently owns and operates his own business. He is single and resides in Fort Wayne.
Randy Wolfe returns to the USF coaching staff with more than 29 years of defensive coaching experience. Wolfe was defensive backs coach for the Cougars from 1998 through 2008. He joined the USF staff after serving for four seasons as defensive back coach at Northrop High School from 1994 through 1997. Before that he served at Snider High School in the same capacity (1992-93) and helped the Panthers win the IHSAA State Championship in 1992. Wolfe is a 1974 graduate of Northrop High School, where he was an honorable mention all-conference selection and also scored the first touchdown in NHS history in 1971. He and his wife, Lori, reside in Fort Wayne and have two children, Leanne and Robert.
Grant Veith ASSISTANT, WINGBACKS Grant Veith joined the University of Saint Francis football staff in 2012 as a volunteer assistant, working with the Cougars’ offensive linemen.
Eddie Nolan ASSISTANT COACH / CORNERBACKS Fort Wayne native Eddie Nolan enters his 16th season on the USF coaching staff. He has more than 28 years of coaching experience. Nolan was an assistant football coach at South Side High School for 17 years and is currently employed as an administrative assistant at SSHS. He also serves as the high school’s head track and field coach.
Veith was a four-year letter winner at Butler University, as a starter on the offensive line at tackle and center. He was an All-Conference Pioneer League selection in 2000, and was a part of the most prolific offense in school history.
Nolan’s collegiate career began at South Carolina State where he played defensive back for the Bulldogs. He then transferred to Butler University to play football and track. After his playing days, Nolan received free agent tryouts with the NFL’s Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys, and the CFL’s Ottawa Roughriders. Nolan has previously served as a USF assistant track coach working with sprinters. He and his wife, Karen, reside in Fort Wayne with their son Thomas.
For the past five seasons he has been working as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne. During that time, the Saints were state runner-up in 2008 and 2010. Prior to Dwenger, he coached at Ben Davis High School when the Giants won back-to-back state titles in 2001 and 2002. He also coached at Lawrence North High School. A native of Indianapolis, Grant graduated from Butler University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education.
Eric Wagoner CO-DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR / DEFENSIVE LINE / SPECIAL TEAMS COACH Eric Wagoner returns for his ninth season working with the Cougars defensive line after one season as a student assistant for the Cougars in 2007. Wagoner played defensive end for USF and helped the Cougars advance to the NAIA Championship Game in 2006 in his senior season. He also was a 2005 MSFA All-Academic Team selection and was named NAIA Defensive Player of the Game in the Cougars’ 42-3 win over Walsh in the first round. A Peru, Ind., native, Wagoner was named USF Silver Helmet Award winner in 2006, an honor selected by the coaching staff for leadership, coachability and scholarship. Eric, his wife Natalie, and daughter Hadley, and sons Liam and Maverick reside in Fort Wayne.
