Chocolate Chocolates and chocolate gifts have changed the existence of millions since the first discovery of this most favorite of treats. Chocolate derives from the cocoa bean which is more than four thousand years old. The very first civilizations revered this mystical dark bean, believing it to be a gift from above. These early cultures made a rich thick brew from the cocoa beans. Some people even used it as an early kind of currency, and there were many things a bean could buy. Four, for example, could buy you dinner. The cocoa bean on it's own is bitter and was in fact pushed aside by the first Spanish explorers. They did not realize what they had discovered and brought with them to to their own country. The Spanish brought with them the recipe for this sour tasting beverage. It was not all that liked until the famous Spanish explorer Cortez took the decision to mix the sharp drink with sugar. Then it grew to become a sensation and only royalty was allowed to drink this appetizing beverage. They included other spices nutmeg and vanilla. They managed to conceal this beverage from the entire world for over 100 years! From that time on it quickly made its way around the globe. Different cultures began making it in alternative ways, improving it,and adding other ingredients. It was slowly becoming the delectable sweet candy that we know now . These days you can enjoy this sweet dark candy all over the world and available in just about any form conceivable. You can come across chocolate in milk, biscuits, coffee, candies, your morning cereal, chocolate smothered fruit, ice-cream and even wine! And you can of course buy chocolate gifts! You won't find a nicer offering for any sweet-toothed person than a box of chocolates . Do you know what the most popular item is on Valentine's day? Chocolates ! More lovers give chocolate gifts on this day than any other present. We all realize that the way to man's heart is through his stomach and evidently the way to woman's heart is through a box of this wonderful sweet treat! It is also a lovely present on other special occasions as well. At Easter countless youngsters will wake up wondering if the Easter bunny has been . Hundreds of plastic eggs will be hidden away with this most coveted gift inside. On Christmas Father Christmas often stuffs stockings full of this dark sweet treat. Can you picture a world with out chocolate? It's difficult is it not? Now you know why chocolates and chocolate gifts are definitely the best possible presents you can give.

Who Is Cupid? Cupid is the mischievous, juvenile, winged child, who shots the heart of his victims with his arrows and making them fall deeply in love. In ancient Greece, he was known as Eros the young son of Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty. According to the Roman mythology, Cupid was the son of Lord Venus. Venus was supposed to be envious of Psyche and ordered her son Cupid to punish the mortal maiden. But Cupid fell in love with Psyche and they end up in a bitter partition after Psyche committed the fault of throwing a glance at the god of love. Their lovely castle and garden vanished with him and Psyche found her unaided in an open field. Distressed Psyche landed in the temple of Lord Venus for help and malicious Venus instead of providing a helping hand, bombarded her with a series of treacherous and fatal tasks. Her last task was to carry a small box to Proserpine, wife of Pluto and was told to get some beauty of Proserpine and put it inside the box. Slowly locating each of her steps through the overflowing perilous path to her destination, Psyche was lured to open the box where she found poisonous sleep. Cupid found her lifeless on the ground. He assembled the sleep from her body and put it back in the box. Psyche’s intense love and devotion for Cupid rubbed out all the envy and anger of gods and therefore made her a goddess. Cupid’s cult was strongly allied with Venus and he was worshipped as acutely as Venus. Cupid was known to have more power than his mother. He had command over the dead in Hades, the creatures of the sea and the gods in Olympus. Some of the religious groups of Cupid suggested that Cupid got united with Chaos and created gods and men alike and so gods became the brood of love.

Picture

Cupid has been portrayed in various facets in art and literature. In Caravaggio's Amor Vincit Omni painting and sculpture, Cupid is portrayed as a nude winged boy armed with a bow and quiver of arrows. The conventional Christian illustration of a Cherub is footed on him. On trinkets and other extant pieces, he is usually made known amusing himself with childhood play, sometimes driving a hoop, throwing flits, catching a butterfly, or flirting with a nymph. He is often portrayed with his mother as playing a horn. He is also shown wearing a helmet and hauling a buckler. Cupid is commenced vastly in Ariel poetry, lyrics and of course Ovid’s love and metamorphic poetry. Cupid is not frequently beckoned on epic poetry but he has an existence in Virgil’s Aeneid changed into the shape of Ascanius rousing Dido’s love. In later literature, Cupid is cited more often than not as mischievous, erratic and perverse. Cupid is often depicted as carrying two sets of arrows among which one set is gold-headed which inspire love and the other set is lead-headed which motivate revulsion. There are some legends which involve Cupid but the best known saga on Cupid is the tale of Cupid and Psyche, first attested in Apuleius’ picaresque novel and The Golden Ass, written in the second century. Cupid’s personality was anything but virtuous. He was reasonably playful and many of his deeds resulted in tragic ending of his victims. Cupid possesses the traditional supremacy of the Olympic Gods such as superhuman power, fortitude and permanence. Cupid can grow wings at will and fly, carrying the weight of others. He is very proud of his skills as God of Love.

Homemade Gumdrops These sweet treats are so easy to make. About 15 minutes of hands-on time, plus cooling and you've got an impressive looking snack. These would be great for your kid's school party, or a fun treat for your loved ones! Makes about 60 1" heart shaped candies You will need: • 2 cups sugar, plus a little extra for rolling the gumdrops in • 1-1/3 cups unsweetened applesauce • 2 3-oz packages Jell-O (I used Strawberry) • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Directions: 1. In a medium saucepan, combine all the ingredients. Let it stand for 1 minute. 2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Boil for 2 minutes. 3. Pour into a greased 9x13" pan. 4. Place in the fridge for 3 hours, until firm. 5. Run a spatula along the edges of the pan to loosen the gumdrops. Turn onto a cutting board. 6. Cut gumdrops into your desired shape. I used a heartshaped cookie cutter, but you could also cut these into squares using a knife dipped in hot water. 7. Roll gumdrops in extra sugar. Let them sit out until they're slightly dry. Store in an airtight container. Courtesy of melissascuisine.com

Valentine’s Day Flowers

Throughout many years on February 14th sweethearts and lovers have shown their intimate love for one another by giving each other flowers, candy and cards. Valentine’s Day without flowers would be like Christmas without presents or Thanksgiving without turkey. Most everyone who celebrates the holiday of love does so without realizing the history behind the tradition of flower giving. This holiday was named after several Christian martyrs who had the name of Valentine. This certainly is a traditional Christian holiday as it was established around A.D. 500 by the Roman Catholic Church Pope Gelasius the first, but then later was removed by Pope Paul the sixth in 1969.

In the Middle Ages Valentine’s Day became a tradition of love and flower giving as courting and romantic love blossomed. It was not until the 19th century that lovers began giving greeting cards to each other. But how did the Legend of Love begin? St. Valentine was a persecuted Christian who was eventually martyred because of his faith. When a Roman Emperor named Claudius II tried to convert Valentine to paganism in order to spare his life, he refused and in turn tried to convert Claudius to Christianity. The love that he showed for his Christian belief, even unto death displayed an uncommon love. However, prior to his execution St. Valentine performed a miracle to display the power of the love of God; and he healed the blinded daughter of the jailer who kept guard over him. This however does not provide an explanation for sentiment, and additional folklore tells that Claudius forced the soldiers of his army to remain single and not to marry wives, so that his army would be stronger. But Valentine out of respect for the Godly institution of holy matrimony secretly married the soldiers and women. Once this was discovered Saint Valentine was arrested and became the Martyr for love. What types of flowers are traditionally given on Valentine’s Day? • Roses are the number one most popular flower given on Valentines Day with long lasting blooms and a strong fragrant smell you can’t go wrong with these. • Tulips are next to the most popular flower given for Valentines they last a long time and are very beautiful • Daisies come in various colors and sizes and are a welcome favorite for Valentine bouquets • Azaleas are a beautiful type of flower given in Valentine flower arrangements • Wild Flowers such as Daffodils make a nice sentimental gift from the heart as you often will need to go and pick these flowers yourself Valentine’s Day is Celebrated Internationally Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the World by many cultures and ethnic groups. • France the holiday is known as “Saint Valentin” • Sweden the holiday is called “All Hearts Day” • Finland it is called “Friends Day” • Turkey recognizes Valentines Day as “Sweethearts Day” • Slovenia recognizes this holiday as the beginning of spring and appropriately calls it “Valentine the First Saint of Spring” • South American Cultures recognize Valentines as the “Day of Love and Friendship” • Asian Countries widely recognize Valentine’s Day and spend more money than any other culture on gifts. Although some countries and religions have banned the holiday the power of love has overcame many throughout the world and they willing celebrate one of nature’s most treasured feelings. Candy and Cards are nice to give on Valentine’s Day. However nothing seems to show such affection as a wonderful bouquet of flowers for your sweetheart. Consider the times when little boys thought of their little girl sweethearts as the plucked the pedals from a daisy saying “She Loves me…She Loves me not…She Loves me… She Loves me not… SHE LOVES ME!” Written by Troy Lilly. Love

One must understand whether "what is love" can be a question which can be answered? Love cannot be a question. For, if it is a question then an answer should be there. If the answer is there, where is it? This question is ancient and an answer should have been found by now! If the answer has been found, the question would have disappeared. But the question still remains, meaning the answer has not been found. If it has not been found as yet, then what is the certainty that it will be found? Maybe the mind can never find the answer! A single answer, which will please all minds, is not possible for each mind has its own ideas of love. Hence a universal answer is an illusion. Individual answers are there for love and for this very reason there are arguments about love for each mind will contradict the answer of another mind. This contradiction is normal for each mind lives in a different point in time. Hence "what is love" is an illusionary question, which has no answer! The word love appears in many contexts: there's maternal love, familial love, romantic love, sexual love, a wider love for fellow humans and religious love for God, to name but a few. Some cultures have ten or more words for different forms of love, and poets and songwriters always find myriad aspects of love to celebrate.

The science of love is still in its infancy. Yet scientists are beginning to get early insights into the nature and origin of love. We can now look inside human brains to view changing patterns of activity and biochemical changes that take place during love, explore diverse human experiences of love, study how we select mates and woo lovers, and look for the evolutionary roots of love. Â Is there anything universal behind all this diversity? As Pope Benedict recently asked in his first encyclical letter: "Are all the forms of love basically one, so that love, in its many and varied manifestations, is ultimately a single reality?" Love represents a range of human emotions and experiences related to the senses of affection and sexual attraction. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from generic pleasure to intense interpersonal attraction. This diversity of meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states. As an abstract concept love usually refers to a strong, ineffable feeling towards another person. Even this limited conception of love, however, encompasses a wealth of different feelings, from the passionate desire and intimacy of romantic love to the nonsexual. Love in its various forms acts as a major facilitator of interpersonal relationships and, owing to its central psychological importance, is one of the most common themes in the creative arts. The English word love can have a variety of related but distinct meanings in different contexts. Often, other languages use multiple words to express some of the different concepts which English relies mainly on love to encapsulate; one example is the plurality of Greek words for "love". Cultural differences in conceptualizing love thus make it doubly difficult to establish any universal definition. Â Although the nature or essence of love is a subject of frequent debate, different aspects of the word can be clarified by determining what isn't "love". As a general expression of positive sentiment (a stronger form of like), love is commonly contrasted with hate (or neutral apathy); as a less sexual and more emotionally intimate form of romantic attachment, love is commonly contrasted with lust; and as an interpersonal relationship with romantic overtones, love is commonly contrasted with friendship, though other definitions of the word love may be applied to close friendships in certain contexts. When discussed in the abstract, love usually refers to interpersonal love, an experience felt by a person for another person. Love often involves caring for or identifying with a person or thing, including oneself.

And there are a number of common proverbs regarding love, from Virgil's "Love conquers all" to The Beatles' "All you need is love". Bertrand Russell describes love as a condition of "absolute value", as opposed to relative value. Peck maintains that love is a combination of the "concern for the spiritual growth of another", and simple narcissism. In combination, love is an activity, not simply a feeling. Biological models of love tend to see it as a mammalian drive, similar to hunger or thirst. Psychology sees love as more of a social and cultural phenomenon. There are probably elements of truth in both views — certainly love is influenced by hormones, and how people think and behave in love is influenced by their conceptions of love. The conventional view in biology is that there are two major drives in love — sexual attraction and attachment. Attachment between adults is presumed to work on the same principles that lead an infant to become attached to its mother. The traditional psychological view sees love as being a combination of companionate love and passionate love. Passionate love is intense longing, and is often accompanied by physiological arousal (shortness of breath, rapid heart rate). Companionate love is affection and a feeling of intimacy not accompanied by physiological arousal. Studies have shown that brain scans of those infatuated by love display a resemblance to those with a mental illness. Love creates activity in the same area of the brain that hunger, thirst, and drug cravings create activity in. New love, therefore, could possibly be more physical than emotional. Over time, this reaction to love mellows, and different areas of the brain are activated, primarily ones involving long-term commitments. To love is so similar to that of drugs because without love, humanity would die out. How do you define love? Some say it's mysterious, magical, complex, difficult, imaginary, thought-provoking, inspirational, intuitional, joyous, immeasurable, ecstasy, and undefinable. Perhaps. In one of Dr. John Gray's audio cassettes he defines love as follows: "Love is a feeling directed at someone who acknowledges their goodness." On the same cassette, he refers to the definition by M. Scott Peck: "The willful intent to serve the well being of another." Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

My favorite is by Paramahansa Yogananda: "To describe love is very difficult, for the same reason that words cannot fully describe the flavor of an orange. You have to taste the fruit to know its flavor. So with love." Love itself is a universal experience. Yet, every individual occurrence - while perhaps bound by a common thread - seems absolutely unique. Love is what love is! To everyone it expresses itself differently. love is the answer to "all" questions! It is important to stand in Love, not fall into it. Could it be that Love is a story that can never be fully expressed? Love is a bond or connection between two people that results in trust, intimacy, and an interdependence that enhances both partners. It is the ability and willingness to allow those you care for to be what they choose for themselves, without any insistence that they satisfy you. Making Love is the highest level and the most loving way we can physically express or demonstrates our love for our love partner. Everyone knows that the sexual experience can be the single most loving, most exciting, most powerful, most exhilarating, most renewing, most energizing, most affirming, most intimate, most uniting, most stress-relieving, most recreative physical experience of which humans are capable. When you tell someone something bad about yourself and you're scared they won't Love you anymore. But then you get surprised because not only do they still Love you, they Love you even more. Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day. Logic says everything in this world has a cause and an effect. True Love is the only feeling which is its own cause and its own effect. It is something illogical and yet above all logic. I Love her because I Love her, and I Love her so I Love her. Love is comforting someone in need of Love and having them know that somebody cares. It is looking past imperfections in your partner and seeing the beautiful person inside. True love seeks the happiness and well being of your partner. Love expresses itself in the mutual respect you demonstrate to your partner. To demonstrate Love. . . say, "I Love you" - out loud - at least once each day to someone you love. There is magic in these three little words. Saying "I love you" is the most beautiful gift you can give to your partner. These words are the most treasured a person can hear. To be different, say, "I Love you" in a foreign language. IS CHIVALRY DEAD?

What does it mean to be chivalrous? Do you know? Are you chivalrous? IS there even a place in today’s world for this behavior? I think there is. Chivalry means gallantry and politeness and courtesy toward women. It means exuding self confidence, but also compassion and empathy for others. While a chivalrous person might be richer, smarter or more handsome than someone else, he would have too much class to ever emphasize those distinctions and would make a point to make everyone around him feel comfortable. It is about holding the door for the beautiful woman, but also the elderly man who is 10 steps behind her. It is about biting one’s tongue to make someone else look good, even at your own expense. There are so many components to being chivalrous. The word comes from a French word, chevalerie, which mean knight. The term chivalry was a code of conduct in the middle Ages for knighthood and how knights treated women. When you start looking at the definition for chivalry, you start to realize that it also has some similarities to being the alpha male. Chivalry was a code governing how one acted morally, religiously and socially. If you were chivalrous, you not only were courteous to women, but you also had courage, honor and were of service to others. It also governed the manners knights employed at home and in court.

Today, we say a man who demonstrates traits of an alpha male is strong, a natural leader and is constantly working to improve himself and stay on top of his game. Like a knight, an alpha male is not one to wallow in sloth. He will be in constant training to stay the leader of others. Like a knight, other people, men and women, look up to an alpha male. He is the leader and they want to emulate his behavior. A true human alpha male is loyal and courteous and demonstrates behavior of the highest caliber, just like a knight. Another way to look at being chivalrous is having integrity. If you have integrity, you will be a happier person and enjoy your life more. Your integrity will also shine through in everything you do. You will become more attractive and charismatic to everyone you come across. Integrity is about being strong, having morals, values and loyalty. It is about not succumbing to baseness just like a knight and his code of conduct. You can be chivalrous or an alpha male or even channel knighthood from medieval days, but the point is that if you act in these ways, you will stand out from the crowd. Women will notice you and be drawn to you. Women will wonder what it is about you that is so compelling and will want to get to know you more. And the fact is, when you act like a knight, you are bound to meet your princess.

In Medieval times, knights were taught to fight fiercely, be courageous, loyal and to scorn cowardliness and stooping to unworthy behaviors.

Lingerie Buyers Guide A Few Tips For Men When Buying Lingerie For Women

Guys, before you set out to buy your lovely lady something special from the lingerie department, here are a couple of tips to help you pick out something that she really will enjoy. First of all, buying lingerie for your sweetheart can be both an intimate and thoughtful present, but it depends on how you do it. If you are not careful, she might perceive your present, as merely you acting like a pervert. So before you buy, consider why it is that you want to buy her lingerie? If it is just to see her in an especially risquĂŠ schoolgirl or nurse's costume, you are probably just going to get yourself into a huge heap of trouble! The last thing you want is to end up sleeping alone or being in the doghouse because she took your present the wrong way. However, if you do get it right, your little surprise can be an especially sweet gesture of affection. If you know her well, you will know what she likes. If she never wears a g-string, chances are she will still not want to wear one even if you buy it for her. Think of what kind of styles and patterns she usually likes. She will notice that you were considerate in your purchase, and it will help your present be something that gets used instead of just something that gets shoved in the back of her drawer.

aware of bras and panties. Camisoles are like a bra with a built in sheer part that covers the midriff. Teddies are like little one piece's that cover the whole torso. Either of these are a great choice for a man to buy as a present because they suggest romance instead of kinkiness or lustiness. Finally, a few last minute tips to help you avoid disaster. Do not buy anything that says 'control' or 'reducing,' or anything like that on the label. You can see how a present like that might be misinterpreted as you calling her fat. In the same way, cleavage-enhancing bras could be interpreted as you calling her flat chested. And once again, avoid getting kinky items, because that generally does not say 'I love you.' Then, finally, it is time for you to get to enjoy picking something out! Pick something that you know she will look ravishing in! Silky, lacy, or a color you really like on her. Something like this will definitely send the message of how much you care for her and how beautiful you think she is.

Next, know your sizing. Even if you are absolutely clueless about the ins and outs of women's under things, there is an easy way to find out. Simply look for a bra she has left lying around or find one in her underwear drawer. Write down the sizes; this will make it very easy to find something that will fit her. Underwear sizes come in small, medium, and so on, or they come in number sizes. If you can, find a pair that has a number size, as that is more specific, and will guarantee a better fit. Next, it will help if you know a little bit of basic lingerie terminology. Obviously, you are probably Written by Paula Gerie. Courtesy of Isnare.com
