USCGC Courier

USCGC Courier was a unique sea-based radio transmitting station docked at the island of Rhodes, Greece 1952-64. Voice of America programming was beamed to listeners in Southeastern Europe, the Middle East, and other Iron Curtain countries. The ship played a vital role in winning the Cold War. Its crew and their families took up residence on the island during the ship's tenure.
