The Old KL Railway Station is one of Kuala Lumpur's most famous landmarks. Until the Petronas Twin Towers was built, the railway station, together with the Sultan Abdul Samad building, was among the most photographed symbols of the city.The station was completed in 1910 and designed by that most prolific and talented of British colonial architects, Arthur Benison Hubback. Working at the Public Works Department, he was responsible for many other iconic buildings in Malaysia such as the stately Ipoh Railway Stationand the Royal Gallery in Klang. The KL Railway Station was built with Mughal features such as the elegant chhatris (dome-capped pavilions of Indian origin) along its roof line.The station served as the city's main rail hub until the modern KL Sentral station took over in 2001.The old station is still used for KTM Komuter services. Some of its platforms were too low for KTM Komuter trains and a more modern extension with a separate entrance was built in the 1980s.

Since 15th April 2001 when the diversion of long-distance intercity rail traffic to Kuala Lumpur Sentral took place, less than a kilometer south, the original station’ s important diminished and redundant station facilities were withdrawn. Intercity trains still stop and pass through this station but no longer as much as it got busy like before. The terminal became like kind of haunted. The project was proposed to bring to bring back the the function and purpose of having the station as it was before with upgrading and improving of not oly the structural part but also the services and the operatins

JO G JAK ART A’SINFLUENCE Joglo is a type of traditional vernacular house of th e Javanese people (Javane s e om ah ). Th e w ord jog l o re fe rs to th e shape of the roof. In th e h ig h l y hierarchical Javanese culture, th e type of the roof of a h ou s e reflects the social and economic status of th e ow ne rs of th e h ou s e ; jog l o h ou s e s is traditionally associated w ith Javanese aristocrats.Th e four innermost main house columns are ofte n the tallest, w h il e the outer columns are the lowest.
