Creative Handwork Activities for ages 2 to 8 years old

Young children need to learn Bible truths through all their senses.
Creative Handwork Activities for ages 2 to 8
Craft Kingdom® will involve the child in active learning, making the lessons a part of their lives. This activity book uses a variety of skills to help students be prepared for school. Cutting, pasting, coloring, and following directions are skills all children need to learn. Craft Kingdom® activities reinforce Bible teaching and make Sunday School fun. Remove activity pages from the book for younger students. Older children may remove the pages themselves. Fold along the perforation to make tearing easier.
September • October • November 2025
Cut the lesson number margin from the top of the activity page. Heavy lines show where to cut, dotted lines show where to fold, and gray lines show where to glue colorful pieces cut out from the front or back covers. Allow older students to do as much of the handwork as possible themselves. Younger children may skip coloring small pictures or color creatively.
Enrichment suggestions are included for students who enjoy challenging craft activities. Teachers may make each week’s craft before class, so they are familiar with the supplies needed and are better able to help the students.
Lesson 1:
Color the picture. Glue it to a sheet of colored construction paper. Punch two holes at the top of the page. Tie a 20 inch piece of yarn through the holes. Tie the ends together to hang. Cut out the circle from the back cover and glue it on the picture inside the circle on the side.
Talk about things God has made. Has He done anything besides make the things pictured? Oh yes! He saved us, heals us, guides us, and protects us. The children may want to tell when God has done something for their family.
Enrichment suggestion:
The students may wish to draw more things in the picture before coloring it.
God’s guide to bring us closer to Him
2:
Make a coloring page that shows how God talked to His people in the past and how He talks to us today. Cut out the Bible from the back cover and glue it in place on the activity page. Children may color the picture. Talk with the children about the differences between the first guide God gave (the 10 Commandments) and the one we have today. For example, the commandments were carved into stone, which is a lot heavier than our printed Bibles. Individuals in the past did not have copies in their homes to read. Today, many of us have our own copy of God’s Word to read and memorize.
Enrichment suggestion:
Students may add glitter around the edges of the open Bible to simulate the gold edges found on many Bibles.
[Jesus said,] “Love each other as I have loved you” (from John 15:12, NIV).
Be kind Be respectful
Be thoughtful Be friendly
Unfortunately, copying these pages is prohibited.
Lesson 4:
Make a wheel that turns to show times when we can put our trust in the Lord. Cut out the boy and girl from the back cover. Cut out the circle and the other part of this craft. Glue the boy and girl where indicated. Poke a paper fas tener through both parts so the circle is on the back. Turn the circle to see four times when we can trust in the Lord.
Lesson 3:
Make a pocket reminder of ways to show God’s love. Cut out the 2 strips from the activity page. Cut the slit near the heart. Teacher may do this before class with a craft knife. Glue the strips together matching the A. Fold the long strip on the dotted line by the A. Fold again on the dotted line by the cut slit. Fold again on the dotted line by the star. Fold the top flap over the top and tuck it into the slit.
Enrichment suggestion: Children may add stickers to decorate the pocket reminder.
Lesson 8:
Make picture cards. Cut off the lesson number strip and then cut on the dark lines to create four cards. Cut out the animal faces and family faces from the front cover and glue them onto the correct circles. Primaries will also cut out the rectangles on the front cover with the names of the animals and family members and glue them onto the right places. Thank God for family members and animals.
Enrichment suggestion:
Play a game using one set of the cards set on a table by the teacher. Everyone sits in a circle and the teacher calls one child and secretly shows him or her a card. To children ask, ‘Animal or family?” The child tells which category and then acts out what he or she saw. The player who guesses the right animal or family member takes the next turn.
“Listen to our leaders.”
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”
(from Genesis 1:31)
