Skateboard Clinic (Ages 7-15)
Come join us learning the basics of skateboarding at the skateboard park in Urbandale! The clinic is ideal for young skaters, ages 7 – 15, who would like to learn how to skate and have not had the opportunity before, or for those who have basic skills, but would like to learn a few more “moves.” The skateboard park will be shut down to all other skaters during the clinic, so this is the perfect time to just “give it a try” in this relaxed, non-threatening environment, and learn from experienced skaters! In this clinic, skaters will learn the fundamentals of skateboarding, safety techniques, skate boarding “etiquette”, and much more. Participants are required to bring their own skateboard, elbow and wrist pads, and helmet. T-shirt included in price. Staff Instructor. Rain out day will be made up on Thursday, June 29. Bowling Camp (Ages 8-18)
Learn fundamentals such as approach, delivery, hand position, release, spot bowling and spare conversions. Participants will be divided into age groups. This camp will be a great lead-in to the High School Bowling Program now offered at Urbandale High School. Camp will take place at Plaza Lanes Family Sports Complex, 2701 Douglas Avenue and be taught by USBC certified Instructor: Melody Gray. Registration Deadline: June 12 Session June 19 – June 23

SKATEBOARD XTREME CHALLENGE!!
WHO: All ages welcome! Competition will be divided by age level. WHY: This competition is a great chance for skateboarders to show off their stuff and win great prizes. It is also a neat way to showcase the skateboard park in Urbandale! The ramps at the park include: two 20ft. escalated quarter pipes, a 90-degree bank street hip, a street spine, and a fun box. WHERE: Urbandale Skateboard Park, Walker Johnston Park (9000 Douglas Avenue) WHEN: SATURDAY, AUGUST 5 Competition begins at 11:00 a.m. (No pre-registration required.) Sponsored by the cities of Urbandale and West Des Moines
Youth Tennis (Ages 9-18)
Lessons are offered for youth ages 9-18. Each participant should wear clothing to fit the weather and be prepared to exercise. Participants provide their own racquet; tennis balls will be provided. Ages 9-13: Max. 24, Ages 14-18: Max. 16. All sessions are held at Walker Johnston Park. Instructors: Urbandale Coach Dave White, and former and current Urbandale high school players. All classes meet MondayThursday. Registration Deadline: One week before session begins. Tennis Lesson Weather Cancellation Policy: Lessons will be cancelled if it is raining, the courts are wet, or have standing water. Rain out days will be made up on Friday of that week the lesson was missed. Please call the Parks and Recreation office at 278-3963 if you have questions.

Magicamp! (Ages 8-15)
Magicamp is for anyone who likes to have fun. You’ll spend two days learning from professional magician Lee Cole on how to entertain and amaze your friends, family and classmates. You’ll learn stuff that you can do anywhere, at any time and for the rest of your life. All magic materials are provided.
