Hi! My name is Beary. My doctor wanted to learn more about me today.
My doctor decided I needed to have an LP. I heard someone calling it a spinal tap.
An LP is a way for my doctor to take out a little bit of the water protecting the bones in my back.
My doctor will look really closely at this water. It will tell him about my body's health.
First, I laid down on my side. My nurse helped my body stay still by giving me a tight squeeze.
My doctor pushed gently on my back.
Then my doctor laid a blue blanket on my back.
My back was cleaned with a soapy sponge three times!
I felt a tiny poke that stung my skin. I counted to ten and then the stinging feeling went away.
Then my doctor pushed on my back again. It was a little uncomfortable, but it didn't hurt.
My doctor cleaned my back with a wet cloth and gave me a bandaid. Then I got to lay down and rest.
My grownup told me that I did a great job holding still for my LP!
