Dear Residents We have had a full year of driving on the completed Riverway Drive Duplication Stage 1 and I don’t know about you, but I find it is a pleasant experience to drive without the traffic congestion. I know we work best when we work together. After delivering Riverway Drive Stage 1, we have seen record investment into the area, helped restore community pride with new pathways and lighting and reduced traffic congestion. As your local MP, I am working hard in consultation with the Minister for Transport and Main Roads, to seek funding to Duplicate Riverway Drive from Allambie Lane (Stage 2). It is important to inform you of challenges in delivering Stage 2, in which, there is a major water pipeline situated under Riverway Drive. This pipeline delivers 70% of Townsville’s water supply to the Douglas Treatment Plant. It is an ageing asset owned by the Townsville City Council, who I am working closely with, along with the Dept of Transport and Main Roads, to address this issue. Going forward, I will need your support, as a community collective, to lobby for future funds to be allocated to build Stage 2.
